Me Vs You | Recipe A Day May Edition

Hey guys, I did a post like this at the end of 2017 where I compared my most viewed posts with the ones I enjoyed writing the most. I really enjoyed putting that post together and it went down quite well too. I’ll definitely be doing another one in 2018, but I thought I’d do a Recipe A Day May edition too. After posting 31 recipes in 31 days, I thought that series deserved a proper ending rather than abruptly stopping with a final recipe, so here we are!

I decided to do this now rather than last week just do give my last few recipes a few days to catch up a little. The results of this are fairly shocking, I’m so surprised at some of my most viewed posts! I mentioned in my thank you paragraph in the final post that May became my best month ever for views by quite a large amount, so thank you again for all of the support I received last month. As it was my most viewed month, I will say that some of these are very tight. Although the top two most viewed got a considerable number more than the others, there’s less than 10 views between position 5 and 10 so the stats may have actually changed before I’ve even finished writing this post. Which, by the way, will leave me very annoyed.

Your Top 5

5. We have a joint 5th place. My final post of the month and the (almost) first

Orange Chocolate Brownies and Red Pepper and Walnut Sauce

Red pepper and walnut sauce

The red pepper and walnut sauce was consistently in the top 5 all month. I know most people love pasta so I wasn’t too shocked by this but I was a little bit surprised that one of the ‘less interesting’ recipes did so well.

I’m not shocked at all that the brownies did well. Just like pasta, most people love chocolate. I was so happy to get this posted (as it was the last one) and I was really happy to celebrate the end of the series with cake. And wine. Not recommending you consume them together, the combination ruins two incredible things.

4. Dipping Platter

This recipe is technically three recipes so it took longer to put together than some of my others. In that sense, I’m glad this one did well. Although, looking at some of the other recipes I put up last month I’m very shocked that this one made the top 5 as I definitely did some more aesthetically pleasing dishes.

3. Frozen Granola Clusters

I posted this in the middle of a mini heatwave. It contains chocolate, granola and peanut butter, I can’t say I’m shocked at all that this is in this list. For quite a while, this was my most viewed post for the month and I can totally see why. I really enjoyed making these so I’m glad they went down well.

My second most viewed last month was actually my Revolution Pro Foundation Drops Review but we’ll skip over that…

2. Quick Veggie Quinoa

Quite shocked by this too. I can see why faster recipes get more views as people like the convenience factor but I honestly thought that the top spots would either be full of sugar or pancakes. Clearly, I know nothing, you guys seem to be healthy.

1. Fruity Green Smoothie

I cannot begin to explain how shocked I am that a smoothie turned out to be one of my most viewed posts, ever. But you guys seemed to really like this one.

My Top 5

I’m not going to lie, I found putting this together incredibly hard. Putting a recipe together is a labour of love. And trying 31 (okay 30, I cheated one day) new recipes in 31 days was a challenge far harder than I was expecting. In day one of Recipe A Day May, I said that every few days I would try a recipe created by someone else to give myself a break. I didn’t do that, I made them all myself. A decision that was probably foolish but I’m incredibly proud of all the same. The last week or so was tough, so I probably enjoyed making those recipes a little less than I usually would. But I’m trying to be objective about this and not let my exhaustion towards the end of the month sway my decisions.

5. Chilli & Tamari Baked Aubergine

This recipe ended up somewhere in the middle in terms of views and I can see why, aubergine isn’t for everyone. That’s actually why it made my top 5. I thought I didn’t like aubergine very much until I tried cooking it this way. It takes a fair bit of prep time which is a little annoying but I think if a new recipe makes you like an ingredient you thought you weren’t keen on then it’s a worthy favourite.

4. Veggie Croquettes

This is very simple, I hadn’t had croquettes in nearly three years because most of them have dairy in and I’d never made my own until last month. Very disappointed I didn’t make them sooner.

3. Orange Chocolate Brownies

They tasted amazing, don’t get me wrong. But the relief in knowing I didn’t have to cook for a while after I made these made them far more enjoyable. I’m also very happy with myself that I had the foresight to know I’d want dessert on my final day when I was planning my posts for the month. Yay, me.

2. Chickpea Nuggets

I was a little disappointed that they didn’t make your top 5. They were in 5th position for about three weeks then slipped massively in the last few days of May and ended up ranked about 12th. I loved these, they’re healthy but you feel like you’re eating junk food and they’re a little spicy which is always a good thing in my world.

I’m actually making these again for dinner tonight which will make them the first thing from Recipe A Day May that I’ve made twice, a worthy favourite then.

1. Frozen Granola Clusters

Nuts, nut butter and chocolate? I don’t think I need to explain why I loved this…. You guys already know how much I love all of these things.

Doing a recipe a day was insane, you should be so proud! I am still in awe! Those chickpea nuggets do look amazing though, and who doesn’t love a good nugget? Definitely one I will be trying out soon.

I think smoothies are so popular because of how easy they are to make and how tasty they are, and green smoothies are somehow Gods of the smoothie world.

Again, congrats for all the recipes you made and posted in May! Such an amazing achievement!

The smoothie recipe definitely surprised me the most! I can’t imagine how difficult it was to put all of these recipes/posts together month, I don’t think I could post almost every day for a month! x

I absolutely loved your recipe a day may! You literally must’ve put an incredible amount of hard work into preparing and uploading it all and they were all so inventive. I absolutely love aubergine personally but I always think it looks a bit odd cooked. My personal favourites must’ve been the chickpea nuggets, the orange choc brownie and the butternut squash and pepper burgers! I am too surprised that your most popular was the smoothie post but I’m constantly surprised at how well some of my least favourite posts do and how much some of my absolute favourites completely flop haha.

I’ve read most of the posts, but my month is watering again being reminded of them! I’ve got such a sweet tooth, and I still think that the frozen granola clusters and the brownies both look incredible..

  7. 7th June 2018 / 8:37 pm

It’s interesting to see which recipes were favoured the most. Do you think the time of year or maybe the weather has had an impact on what people are looking to make?
I deffo need to go back and revisit some of these recipes, they all look so yummy, and the fact they are fairly healthy also have a lure!

The chocolate orange brownies and frozen granola clusters are making me drool! I definitely need to try these! I reckon they’d be good for snacks at work as well! X

  9. 7th June 2018 / 8:47 pm

These all look great. I am always on the hunt for new recipes to try and I can definitely see myself making a number of these. I think the orange chocolate brownies would be among the first thing that I make.

The frozen granola clusters really sound delicious. Totally going on my list for a yummy summer snack! How could I have missed this one? Really thought this was a great post and interesting to see your favs vs. “our” favs. xx

I’m going up start by saying WOW. Just cooking everyday is a task in itself. Then cooking such intricate recipes…even better. For me, the recipe I like is the granola clusters. I’d have to take out the peanut butter though—allergy. I loved this post! Do you have any nut-free snack/dessert ideas?

  15. 8th June 2018 / 9:45 pm

I literally want to eat everything right now!! The Chocolate Orange Brownies look absolutely incredible, and right now I want to make a batch of my own but it’s late and I have an early start but hopefully I’ll find time over the weekend. So nice to see which posts did well for you and which were your favourites and to see that some posts crossed over.

Can I just say these are all my faves!!! Lol I’m here sitting at my work desk feeling so unfortunate that I can’t get to make one of these nowwww! 🙁 I think it’s so cool to do a comparison like this and pretty interesting to see what your viewers like most! Really proves some fan faves that generate beyond yummy results! Smart thinking Soph and I hope I could try the veggie croquette over a weekend off!
