Another year, another month of 31 recipes has gone by. At the end of my first year of blogging, I did a round up post of my post viewed posts compared to my favourite to write. Then I did another at the end of Recipe A Day May 2018, and it’s kinda become ‘my thing’. I love looking back on these posts, there’s always a few surprises in there and it’s nice to see if we’re on the same page. After a green smoothie became my most viewed recipe post last year, I didn’t know what to expect when I opened my analytics this time. I’ve waited a couple of weeks to do this post this year so that the final few recipes have had a couple of weeks to catch up with the ones from the first week and give them a fair shot.
I always expect these lists to be quite different. The popular recipes are usually the easy ones, and it makes perfect sense. If people look at it and it doesn’t take much effort, they’re probably more likely to make it. My favourites are the ones that felt like a challenge to complete, the ones that were somewhat difficult to make or took me out of my comfort zone. So, it’s interesting to see if there’s any overlap in these lists at all.
Your Top 5 – My Most Viewed Recipe A Day May 2019 Recipes
There’s only three views between 5th and 3rd place. This list is definitely subject to change.
(stats accurate as of 13/6/19)
5. Strawberry Granola Slices
Sure, I get it. They can be breakfast or a snack, they’re easy and versatile. It makes sense. I didn’t think this recipe was particularly exciting, but I get it.

4. Chocolate Pistachio Energy Balls
This one is kind of surprising/ kind of not. I thought these would do well as I know easy / healthy snack recipes tend to be popular, but I wasn’t expecting to find them in the ‘most viewed’ list either.

3. Stuffed Squash
I was a bit shocked that this one was one of the most viewed, but I’m happy about it! This recipe is so easy, healthy, filling and looks pretty good presented on a dinner table too. You have good taste.

2. Vegan, GF Nutella Loaf
I would have been extremely disappointed if this one didn’t do well. This is one of the more predictable ones on the list. When I started this one, I wasn’t even sure if it wasn’t going to go well so this is one of the ones that I’m more proud of. I’m glad you liked this one too!

1. Homemade Tortilla Chips & Guacamole
You lot never fail to surprise me. This is completely unexpected. One thing that doing these posts has made me realise is that it’s often the most simple recipes that do the best. I hope you all thoroughly enjoyed your chips & guac.

My Top 5
This list is always so hard to narrow down, I don’t know why I do this to myself.
5. Caramelised Onion & Olive Muffins
I know that savoury muffins aren’t for everyone so I understand why this one isn’t top tier for everyone else. But this one was a fun experiment for me, and I like that this one isn’t set to a specific time of day/ meal.

4. Nutella Loaf
As I said above, this was one of the ones I wasn’t sure if I could make work and it turned out well, so this is a pride placement more than anything else.
3. Berry Breakfast Quinoa
I did a post a really long time ago with three quinoa breakfast recipes in it and got so many comments from people who said they would never think to have quinoa on a morning and/ or sweet quinoa. That’s why I like this one, it changes how people perceive food. And this was the final recipe I made for this series this year, so it obviously has happy vibes attached to it.

2. Cauliflower Dippers
This one nearly made your list, coming in at 8th place. I really enjoyed making this one as it’s so nondescript. They look like nuggets; you can make them for your kids and they probably won’t know they’re eating vegetables and they’re easy to season with whatever you want. And quite quick to make.

1. Marzipan Cups
I take back everything I said in the last section about approving of your choices. The fact this one didn’t make the list is a crime against every sugar rush I experienced making these. Okay, I know not everyone likes marzipan. And I know that this one takes a long time to prep, but look at those perfect sugary cups…

Have you spotted any of your favourites on the list or seen anything you’d like to try? Let me know your favourites down below!
Until next time,
Sophie

We love Tortilla Chips and Guacamole haha!Looking at the ones that received the most views, it doesn’t surprise me in a way as they images are so professional and the recipes are unique or a great vegan alternative. I love nutella so I really do need to try a vegan version! Olive and onion muffins sound very interesting!I have recently tried cauliflower for the first time (i find it very difficult to try new foods) and I quite liked it, it was ‘cauliflower steak’ from a restaurant and had a slight bbq flavour so I want to try different styles! Will 100% be having a look at that recipe! xx
i love this post! it’s such a cool idea to compare what your viewers like the most and what you enjoyed writing the most. it’s always exciting when something you didn’t think would become one of your most viewed does well. i definitely have to try the recipe on making your own tortilla chips! xx

Your recipes always look delicious. I would love to try the Strawberry Granola Slices and your Guacamole.
These look good!
The strawberry granola slices!!! The one recipe in which I realized I’ve never made my own strawberry jam and have only bought store bought my whole life – a whole travesty on my end. I’ve got the chocolate pistachio every balls saved in my bookmarks!! I think they’d be the perfect lil bit of protein for after a run!
The stuffed squash looked so so much fun to make like in my head I’d serve it in the squash and everyone has their own personal squash hahaha is there such thing as mini squashes if not that’s going to be a big self-squash for everyone if I did that haha.
Ok how did I miss the nutella loaf??? A whole travesty. I literally did a double take and just clicked through and uh guess I’m going to make this on Friday and let you know how it turns out!
GUACAMOLE YES YES YES the glowsteady fam knows what’s up. You can’t go wrong with guacamole!
I made the caramelized onions & olive muffins!! They were so interesting – I loved having them either as mid-day snack or with eggs in the morning!
Oh hold on wait a second how did the Marzipan Cups not make it to our top 5????? the glowsteady fam is officially canceled
I didn’t get around to reading the energy balls recipe, so I’m gonna have a read of that! I like the comparison between your favs as well as your readers’ favs. Congrats on plowing through May with such quality content–I really wanna try all these recipes at some point :’)
I loved your recipe a day may series! I still have quite a few that I need to try out myself, although I loved your spinach & asparagus quinoa recipe! I haven’t tried them yet but also the cauliflower dippers were one of my faves too, I think I’ll make them when I’m back from holiday!
