I’ve mentioned a million times by this point that I love Nakd bars, right? Some of you may recall my obsession with the blueberry muffin ones last year when I did my sugar free challenge (still my favourite flavour). Well, this recipe is like a homemade version of a Nakd bar. This recipe only contains 4 ingredients and all you need is a food processor, so it’s a really simple one. It’s great buying a box of bars, but sometimes you want to make your own flavours. Enter these chocolate pistachio energy balls (you could shape it like a bar if you really wanted to copy Nakd). I’m going to be using Nakd bars as a reference as the main ingredients are usually dates, raisins and nuts plus some flavouring, so they have a similar base to this recipe.
To the best of my knowledge, Nakd bars don’t come in a pistachio variety? Please correct me if I’m wrong, and send me a link because I need to try that ASAP. But, as the majority of the population are aware (not factual information at all), pistachios are the most superior nuts you can get. I love pistachios, everyone loves chocolate, so I think we’ll all like these. Reverting back to the Nakd bar reference, I don’t know why, but I hate the cocoa ones. I really like cocoa mint and cocoa orange, but regular cocoa? Not a fan. Despite the chocolate in this recipe being from cocoa powder, they taste nothing like Nakd cocoa bars. Sorry if that’s a disappointment.
I made these with the first four ingredients only and kept them simple. However, you could add some protein powder to make them a post workout snack. Alternatively, you could roll them in extra cocoa powder to make them more like little truffles. Or I guess you could do both?

Chocolate Pistachio Energy Balls Recipe
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, soy free and vegan. It does contain nuts.

Chocolate Pistachio Energy Balls Recipe
Ingredients
- 70 g pitted dates
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 50 g pistachio
- 1 tbsp cocoa/ raw cacao
- Optional: half a scoop chocolate protein powder
- Optional: extra cocoa to roll in
Instructions
-
Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse several times until the ingredients are combined. The dates should be smooth but the nuts have a light praline texture.
-
Take a heaped tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball. Repeat until you run out, you should end up with 6 or 7 balls in total.
Serve and enjoy!

Do you like the sound of these? And are you fans of Nakd bars too? Let me know your favourite flavour down below.
