It’s time for another edition of Me vs You – my most viewed posts of the year and my favourites to write. This is my third year doing this and as with last year, there are some posts that have ranked well on Google that are miles ahead of the rest. However, I’m doing this a little differently this time. Some of the posts that also appeared on my 2018 list and I’ve decided not to include those (because this post will get really boring very quickly if it’s the same every year). Instead, I’m including the new additions and I’ll place the number it actually ranked in brackets next to it.
My 5 Most Viewed Posts of 2019
5. Hungarian Solet Recipe (7)
So, earlier this year I did a mini series taking food from another country (Hungary) and making vegan versions of their traditional dishes. I had some difficulty researching traditional recipes for what the really popular dishes were and at that point I should have probably realised that the lack of information would likely mean that mine did well. I didn’t think… and was very surprised when this one started getting popular.

4. Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Concealer Review (6)
No shock here, Revolution posts always do well. But this post isn’t a positive one, don’t buy this if you have dry skin.

3. Revolution Pro Powder Foundation Review (5)
….what was I just saying about Revolution always doing well? Sadly, this review also was not a very positive one.

2. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Review (4)
Being very pale has helped my SEO game no end. When people search for ‘x foundation lightest shade’, my reviews normally come up. Who knew that ranting about never being able to find your colour would turn into a major positive?

1. Graze Inspired Cacao Flapjack Bites (2)
All I’m saying here is that I do not understand this one bit. Definitely not one of my favourite recipes, don’t think it’s one of my best either. But it does well…
The posts that should have been at three and one were the Revolution Pro Foundation Drops Review and Testing Revolution Skincare but both featured in my list from last year.

My Favourite Posts of 2019
I’m going to do the same thing and put the real ranking in brackets here just so we can see how far away my favourites are from yours, but I’m fairly confident that there won’t be any overlap between the lists this year.
5. Peanut Choc Chip Pancakes (24)
Pancake Day is my favourite day of the year, way better than Christmas (yes I said it) and my stack to mark the occasion this year has to be one of my favourite recipes ever.

4. Chocolate Orange Yule Log Recipe (14)
This one is on the list mainly because of what it represents. I posted this recipe back in November 2018 and it made it to 14 on the list this year thanks to Pinterest. A tool I did not utilise at all in 2018.

3. What I Eat in a Day for Hair Growth (23)
It feels wrong to end 2019 without a nod to my lash growth journey. If you’re new, last November I ended up with a bald patch in my eyelashes and documented the whole journey of me trying to grow them back. From coming up with The Hair Growth Diet to my experience with hair vitamins and more. I meant to do a ‘one year on’ recap this month but the date totally slipped me by. Maybe one for January?

2. Wimbledon
I’m fully cheating here and including a series, but you may recall that I did six strawberries & cream inspired recipes during Wimbledon fornight this year and I love that you can really do anything with blogging. I managed to combine a fortnight I typically spend glued to my TV with vegan/ GF baking and still managed to produce ‘on brand’ content. Note to self: come up with a plan for this year ASAP…

Pancakes recipe here.
1. This Month Let’s Talk About Smear Fear (19)
Once again, my favourite post of the year was a This Month one. My This Month blog has been severely neglected in the latter half of this year and I’m hoping to bring back a schedule of posting regularly there in 2020 because it’s clearly something I enjoy. This post may not have been one of the most viewed (although 19/ 450 isn’t exactly low ranked) but this was one my most engaged posts of the year in terms of comments. Clearly a subject that appeals to my core audience more than a Google ranking, and I’m not complaining about that.
Were any of your favourite posts of mine on either of these lists this year? Or any kind of posts you’d like to see more of in 2020? I hope you all have/ had an amazing New Year!
Until next time,
Sophie
Amazing posts and photos, that pasta looks so yummy tho! haha 🙂
XO, Melissa
I totally understand why these are your most viewed posts! The food looks delicious and your makeup photography is stunning. Love it! Wishing you a great 2020!

This is such a fun read! I always think it’s fascinating that your favourite posts aren’t always your readers’ favourite posts
I love looking back, I’ve got a similar post lined up for my one year blog Birthday!
Some lovely posts here.
Happy new year x x
What a fab idea for a post! It’s really interesting to see whta your favourites were and what we’re the most popular!

I like the chocolate and orange yule log recipe. Delicious! I also liked the conceal and hydrate review.
Happy New Year to you and your family.
What a fun way to look back on the year! Those peanut choc pancakes look especially good! 🙂
This is a really cool format for a round-up post! You’ve done some super delicious recipes this year. Good luck in 2020!
It is always interesting to see what readers liked as opposed to what you love writing!
And I did not mean to laugh, but I did watching three cosmetic posts roll by! Who knew those are so popular?
The yule log and pancakes have a rightful place here! I love a yule log, and who does not like dessert pancakes?
Happy New Year!
It’s so great to take time to reflect on the posts we’ve written–our favorites, how we’ve improved, what worked well and what didn’t, what posts resonated with people the most, and which got the most views.
I wish you the best in 2020!
This is such a great way to reflect back on your year with your blog! All of these posts look amazing, I’m definitely gonna go back and read through some that I may have missed! Thanks for sharing! Happy new year! 🙂

You have a really an inspiring as well as a delicious collection here, how I wish I had the some of this for Chritmas! Will definitely try some of the recipes mentioned in future. Thanks
Hi, I like “what you eat in a day for hair growth…”. Great, super healthy foods. I eat fairly healthy but don’t think enough about what I eat, so this post is super helpful. Thanks a bunch!
All of your food posts have been incredible! They’ve been super interesting to read and they will definitely be helping me work on my eating habits this year. I wish I could have reflected on my posts but my stats plug-in died so I lost most of that data! xD
Oh my goodness, those pancakes look so divine. I want them. I’m going to bookmark that post.
Every year I find these posts so interesting to read! I loved your Wimbledon series at the time! It’s interesting to see that your beauty posts do so well on Google but your food ones seem to be your personal favourites! Your food ones tend to be my favourites too.

Thank you! I always find it really interesting to look back on too. If I expanded the list to a top 20 there are a lot of recipes that do well in there but generally speaking foundation posts always do well. I definitely prefer the foodie posts though! x
So many great recipes I will have to try!! This round up is such a great idea to see what people like to read about 🙂

It’s so interesting to see which posts become popular vs. the ones you enjoyed writing the most (I’m new to blogging and it’s really neat to see someone who has that insight). Also, can we talk about that yule log??? Amazing! Best of luck in the new year 🙂
This is a great way to reflect on your blog! It’s nice to see what posts ranked the best and your own personal favourites!

That food all looks amazing, *definitely* going to have a look at that pancake recipe!!
Wow great job on the ranking.
I love this post, it’s always funny to see what posts you love vs how well they perform. I loved your monthly series, so definitely bring it back! I also can’t believe the pancakes weren’t in the top 5 most viewed x
So interesting what you vs your audience loved the most. Personally I love your food related blog posts because they give me so many ideas for recipes I want to try! Happy New Year! x
The smear test is always a good subject to talk about as it’s so important to encourage women of any age to go for their smear test! All your posts have been amazing in 2019 Sophie, looking forward to what’s to come in 2020’s posts! x

Happy New Year, Sophie! Oooh love that you got to pull the stats together to see what was a big hit in 2019! I love all of your recipes. Super healthy and flavorful!! It is great that you were honest with your reviews. It goes a long way. Love that you did the research and found lentils being super helpful. Hope 2020 will bring you lots of continued success!

Loved this post! I think it’s such a good idea to go back over your blog and reflect on previous blog posts. All of your food posts have been amazing in 2019, I can’t wait to see more this year xx

I didn’t do one of these posts this year, I wish I did though because the results are always so interesting! I love that all (but one) of your favourite posts are food related x
Those pancakes look amazing – I love your recipe posts x
I’m hungry now, thank heavens it’s dinner. No wonder these got so many views, yum!! x
I loved alll of your pancake recipes this year!! I’m sure there were a few I missed or didn’t get to comment on, but so many of them I adored & even tried out myself (they were all delish hehe). Your Wimbledon series was so enjoyable & super creative! x
Wow- people are clearly interested in Revolution- it’s a shame that they’re not positive reviews but hopefully you’ve helped a few people save their money! I love your recipe posts and talking about Smear Tests and encouraging people to go is so important. I can’t wait to see your 2020 content!
