So, I know I said in the first strawberries & cream post that things were going downhill from there in the health department, but this was a somewhat last minute addition to the list. Yes, this recipe includes chocolate, but it’s delicious, includes fruit, and gives you a little protein boost too. And this mini series is to celebrate a sporting event after all, so a (vegan) protein balls recipe seemed appropriate. I’ve posted a couple of energy/ protein ball recipes in the past, but I feel like these strawberry white chocolate protein balls are perfect because they don’t taste healthy at all…but still comes with some health benefits. They taste a bit like cake batter to me…
Pre-prep
Originally, I was hoping that I could soak my cashews and that would give this recipe enough moisture to bind them. That didn’t quite work out, so I ended up adding a little nut butter to the mix but pre-soaking the cashews is a must. I know it’s annoying setting them aside for hours, but please don’t skip that part. They won’t hold without it!
Ingredient Choices
This recipe contains Urban Fruit, I don’t know if they’re available outside of the UK, but they’re strawberries baked in apple juice. They have a gummy texture and, in this recipe, I used them in a similar way to how I’d usually use dates. If you don’t have Urban Fruit, hopefully you have a similar alternative.
I used the strawberry protein from Bulk Powders for this recipe, nutritional information will vary slightly if you’re using an alternative brand.
As I said, I had to add some nut butter to bind them. The recipe below says ‘nut butter’ but I’d recommend using either almond, cashew or macadamia nut butter. These flavours will act as a complementary flavour to the other ingredients. I don’t think peanut will work very well! I used almond butter in mine.

Nutritional Information
These little sweet cake batter balls of goodness contain about 6.5g of protein each. I know that isn’t a lot for a protein bar/ ball, but these ones are only 33g and 145kcal per serving. Most protein bars sit somewhere around 50g, so obviously, contain more. Overall, they have very similar nutrition to Trek bars per 100g.
Per protein ball, this recipe contains 6.5g protein, 6.6g fat and 145 calories.
Strawberry White Chocolate Vegan Protein Balls Recipe
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, soy free and vegan. It does contain nuts.

Strawberry White Chocolate Protein Balls
A sweet strawberry white chocolate protein ball, like a creamy cake batter.
Ingredients
- ½ cup cashews soaked in 1 cup water overnight or at least 6 hours
- 1-2 tbsp nut butter
- 90 g Urban Fruit Strawberry
- 1 ½ scoops strawberry protein powder
- 45 g vegan white chocolate
Instructions
-
Drain your pre-soaked cashews and tip into a food processor. Add in the Urban Fruit (or other brand alternative), white chocolate and protein powder. Pulse for a minute or so until the mixture has broken down, it will likely resemble a breadcrumb texture at this point.
-
Add the nut butter ½ tbsp at a time and pulse a few times before adding more. The amount you’ll need will vary depending on how much water your cashews absorbed and how dry your protein powder is, so add the nut butter slowly to get the right texture. When it’s ready, it should be sticking together and start to form a ball as you’re pulsing.
-
Once ready, transfer into a bowl and roll into 8 even sized balls.
Serve and enjoy!
What’s your favourite flavour protein ball snack/ energy ball?
Until next time,
Sophie

These look amazing! I love protein balls as they’re a quick and convenient way to get some protein in when you’re on the go. I especially love them after a workout. They’re quite filling but not too much, if you know what I mean. Will definitely be trying this recipe!
Oh yum I love white chocolate! I haven’t had it with strawberry before but love it was raspberry. I love little snacks like this to keep me going throughout the day xxx
those look delicious. I love a little snack ♥
This is exactly what I was looking for! Defo going to try these as I’ve genuinely been looking for healthy snacks and with proteins – so much better! Sounds so good too!

Nom nom nom. Saving these for Sunday hike. Thanks
This is the perfect excuse for me to try out strawberry protein powder! (I’ve only ever had chocolate or whey protein powder.) They taste like cake batter?? I’m there haha! I don’t like cake, but I love the batter :’)
Omg!!! I love anything protein filled that tastes good! Will have to try these x
These look delicious. I pinned it to my Vegan board, and I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the recipe!
I think your Wimbledon recipes are inspired! These look delicious (as I would expect from you). Would they work with any berry substitute, such as raspberries or blueberries, or even blackberries, do you think? Although I’m guessing fresh fruit wouldn’t work? Yummy though! Lisa x
These look amazing and totally up my alley because I cannot stand dates! I’m wondering if I could blend rice protein and pea protein with some freeze dried strawberries rather than buy new protein powder though…do you think that would work? I’m also having cheeky thoughts about dipping them into melted chocolate to make protein truffle chocolates things….I’d never thought about making my own balls and these sound so much tastier than missfits.
Them strawberries sound incredible! I love white chocolate, and paired with strawberries, these balls sound delicious. I’d love to try it with other fruit too! Thanks for sharing! x

Great post! It’s sounds delicious. I like how you included the nutritional information, very well done. Thanks for sharing.
We made a vacation in these as We couldn’t blind any coconut in Sainsbury.
Lovely!
I shall tweet the photo soon.
I don’t really have a favourite flavour of them in general, but I wonder if soy butter would be acceptable in this?
I need to do these balls
I’ve been looking into protein balls lately! They’re easy to eat and you don’t need to prepare them when you’re ready to eat. Even though most of the time is spent soaking the cashews, the rest of the steps look easy. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I need to try it out one of these weekends.

I absolutely love the strawberry urban fruit, and I would have never thought about adding them to a recipe, which now I think about it, I don’t know why! I’m always on the look out for healthy snacks though, especially when I’m at work so these would be great.

these would be a great way to get some extra protein in
I’ve actually never tried a protein ball (I’m the absolute worst) but these sound like such a delicious flavour that I might have to give them a go! I find it so amazing how you create recipes like this – I never know how to cook the most basic things without instructions so you have a real talent!
