Much like the flapjacks recipe I shared last week, granola is one of the easiest things to make with an added source of omega 3. I have shared an omega 3 granola recipe in the past, but I’ve turned this one up a level by increasing the variety of omega 3 sources. And to mix things up a little bit, I’m trying a stove top granola recipe for the first time.
Making the granola in a pan is great for a few reasons. The main one being that it’s easier to make in smaller batches. Sure, baked granola will keep. But I always find it tastes better in the first week or so. So, if you happen to live alone or are the only one who eats it, this recipe is perfect for you. Worried about having to make it more often because you’re making smaller batches? Don’t worry, the other great thing about this recipe is that it’s a lot quicker to make. From pantry to bowl this recipe takes around 15 minutes, so it’s not too time consuming if you need to make more than one batch a week.
Omega 3 Sources
Typically, when I make a granola recipe, I opt for oil free and stick with some sort of syrup. However, as we’re focusing on omega 3, I did use some walnut oil alongside the syrup in this one to add an extra source of healthy fats.
The overall omega 3 in this recipe is 2.2g per serving, but please refer back to my plant based sources of omega 3 post for more information on how that’s converted in our bodies. This recipe provides omega 3 from the chia seeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and walnut oil.
Nutritional Information
Per serving, this recipe contains 10.5g of protein, which is fairly high for a granola. The fat content is high, at around 20g, however this is mainly from the walnuts and seeds with just 2g of saturated fat per serving. Each serving also provides 20% of your daily iron and a third of your daily fibre.

Have you ever tried a stove top granola recipe? Do you like the idea as a quicker alternative?
Until next time,
Sophie
I prefer the regular version, it is much better in my opinion. Great post.
I love granola; but haven’t ever tried making my own! Will give this recipe a try – thank you!

I’ve never made my own granola, but buying it is so tough for me because it usually contains stuff I’m allergic to. Maybe I should just make my own and customise it, side-step the problem entirely!
OOOH, that sounds so nice!
I’ve heard about granola recipes that are made in the oven but not on the stovetop. I keep saying that I am going to make my own granola but I haven’t gotten there yet. This sounds so easy and fun to make especially during the hot summer months when I don’t want to turn on the oven.
I love the idea of making my own granola, it’s even better that it only takes 15 minutes to do as well! It looks really good from the pictures, I am now craving granola or something that’s really breakfast-y even though it’s almost half 8 in the evening haha. Although I do every so often have cereal in the evening!

Yum! This sounds so delish and easy! Can we use maple instead of date syrup??
I adore granola and this version looks delicious – you had me at 15 minutes, that’s amazingly fast. Perfect for bleary eyed mums (aka me) in the mornings. Yum, thank you, Sophie! Lisa xxx
