Everyone who has been here for a while will know that I love doing these posts, me vs you is where I look back at a group of posts and see which were the most viewed and compare that list with the list of my personal favourites to see if there’s any overlap. I do two a year, one at the end of the year and one at the end of Recipe a Day May, and now it’s early June, it’s time for my Me vs You Recipe a Day May 2022 recap.
Before we get into it, I always like to start with a couple of predictions. Honestly, I’m struggling to choose this year! I only have two standouts that I have a feeling will be close to the top, one of which is my stuffed potato cakes recipe and the other is the peanut butter chocolate oats bars recipe, but we’ll see.

My top 5 recipes May 2022
As always, my top 5 aren’t in any particular order, just 5 that I either really enjoyed making, loved the taste of the most, or the pictures make me want to eat another serving right now.
Breaded Olives

So simple, I know, but my family have requested these so many times since I first made them a few months ago, we’ve had them several times at this point, and I adore olives in basically everything. I know olives aren’t for everyone, so I’ll understand if this one doesn’t make the top 5, but I love this one.
Sundried Tomato Pasta Bake

Honestly, I didn’t think that this one would make the top 5. This was first made last summer, one of the first of the May recipes to make the cut this year, and I think I’ve only made it once since, but I want it every time I look at the pictures, and I think that counts for a lot. I need to make this one again soon.
Mediterranean Vegetable Tray Bake

Nothing too fancy here, but I make this all the time these days. It’s become a staple recipe for when I want something fairly quick that’s still really healthy. Because this one is so simple, I’ll be surprised if this one ends up near the top, but if you are looking for easy/ healthy dinner options to try at home, have a look at this one.
Almond Butter Roast Potatoes

I don’t think I need to explain why I think this one is amazing, do I? Almond butter, potatoes. Crispy little chunks of heaven.
BBQ Loaded Fries

Again, I don’t think this needs much explanation. I said multiple times last month that I went through a real barbecue phase for a couple of months when I was prepping this series and I picked this one as my favourite. I love all of the different textures, from the jackfruit to the beans, the fries and the cashew cheese alternative. This recipe isn’t the most photogenic though, so I doubt it will appear in your top picks.
Honourable mentions: I know this is cheating a little bit, but I’d like to do quick shoutout to the stuffed potato cakes and the peanut butter pretzel bites. I think this year is the first year that I haven’t included something sweet in my top 5, so I’d like to add that as the top of the sweet list even though they didn’t quite make the top 5, and potato cakes would have made it if the loaded fries didn’t. It was a tough choice, but picking a top 5 with 3 potato dishes in would have felt excessive.
The Top 5 Most Viewed Recipes
Like every year, I haven’t looked at my stats properly prior to making this post. I’ve of course seen one or two do well on social media, or noticed a lot of traffic on certain posts on certain days – but I’ve avoided my analytics as much as possible so this can be a complete shock.
5. Peanut Butter Chocolate Pretzel Bites

Easy, great for kids. Not actually that unhealthy, low calorie. Fairly quick to make. Yeah, I can see why this one made it close to the top spot.
4. Peanut Butter Protein Cookies

This one was a shock; they weren’t on my radar at all. The dough for these cookies was going to be protein bars, then I got an idea to make cookies when I saw the texture, and this is what I ended up with.
3. Chocolate Oat Bars

No surprises here. They’re a great recipe, good to make with kids and not ridiculously unhealthy so you could probably pass them off as a grab and go breakfast too.
2. Stuffed Potato Cakes

Knew it. I loved making this recipe, and if I’d had a top 6 rather than a top 5, this one would have made my list too. This recipe was one of the last May recipes I prepped back in April, and I’ve already made them a few times since so no doubt this will end up being a favourite when I look back at the end of the year.
1. Onion Bhajis

I definitely didn’t see this one coming, at all. But I guess it’s a really common side dish, so that was probably an oversight on my part, but I hadn’t thought this one was going to feature as I know it’s something a lot of people are happy to just buy. They are really easy though if anyone want to try them out.
Overall
This year was a strange one with half of the top being predictable and the other half taking me completely by surprise, but that’s the exact reason I do these posts; there’s always a shock in there somewhere. I’m glad I at least did reasonably well at predicting the reader favourites even if mine weren’t necessarily the most viewed.
Did your favourite make either list?
Until next time,
Sophie
