This green smoothie bowl recipe has been a go-to breakfast for me recently. It contains several vitamins/ nutrients that I’ve been focusing on recently, specifically targeting vitamins for hair growth. This recipe is optimal for hair health, containing iron, healthy fats, high protein, vitamin C and more.
But as with all things ‘green’, the greens alone would taste a little too green for breakfast. And hair growth focus or not, I still want my breakfast to be enjoyable, so there’s some frozen mango and pineapple mixed in for some balancing sweetness. And even if you’re not interested in hair growth, this recipe is still a great, balanced and nourishing way to start the day.

Nutritional Information
I made this recipe using the BOXD vegan vanilla protein blend, which is vitamin fortified, for an extra boost. I’ve made a whole post about the BOXD protein and the nutritional value it has, which you can take a look at for more information, but for the sake of the values here, I’m calculating it based on using ‘regular’ vegan protein powder rather than the fortified version as that’s more likely to be what you have at home.
Each smoothie bowl, without toppings, contains 12g of fibre, 36g of protein and 3.25mg of iron. You also get the full recommended daily amount of vitamins A and K, as well as 90% of your daily vitamin C and two thirds of your daily folate.
Per smoothie bowl, you’ll also get 20-30% of each of the following:
- B12
- B2
- B6
- Vitamin D
Substitutions
There isn’t a huge amount of room for substitutions here. You can sub the mango and pineapple for another frozen fruit of your choice if you wish, and the vanilla protein can be substituted for another flavour. Something like lemon and lime (fresh citrus flavours) would work really well with the greens too.
The dairy alternatives can be swapped to your preferences, if you’d prefer to use something like oat milk rather than something sweetened.
Alternatively, you can double the milk to make this a drinkable liquid smoothie rather than a smoothie bowl.
And if you don’t want to measure individual fruits, use a ready to blend tropical smoothie mix of your choice.

Nourishing Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe
A healthy green smoothie bowl packed with micronutrients like iron and vitamin C, healthy fats and high protein. Perfectly balanced to make your healthy start as satisfying and filling as possible, as well as a hint of sweetness.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan.
It can be nut free depending on your choice of toppings and dairy alternatives. Mine does contain soy, but you can opt for alternative dairy replacements if you need to avoid soy, but be aware that other options will likely contain less protein and the nutritional information will vary.

Nourishing Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe
Ingredients
- 100 g vegan Greek Style Yoghurt I used Alpro
- ½ cup sweetened dairy alternative milk I used vanilla soy
- 80 g fresh spinach
- ½ ripe avocado
- 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein
- 60 g frozen mango
- 20 g frozen pineapple
Suggested Toppings
- Granola*
- Mixed nuts
- Pumpkin seeds*
- Chia seeds*
- Flaxseed
Instructions
-
Mix all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Avoid putting powders and frozen ingredients in first if you have a blender that needs to be turned upside down to blend (they’re more likely to stick than fresh ingredients/ liquids). Start with a third of a cup of vegan milk then continue to add as appropriate until you reach the desired texture.
-
Add toppings of your choice. *The ones marked with the asterisk above are the ones I’ve featured here.
Serve and enjoy!

Sophie, I hope you’ve been well!! It’s been a while :’) Honestly, this recipe couldn’t have come at a better time! Though I’m not concerned with growing my hair, I am trying to take better care of it, and I’m trying to hunt around to find the best vitamins/supplements to care for my hair. Of course, I need to start with what I eat. Love this x
Hey!! ❤Hope you’re doing well?! Good luck with your hair goals, hope you can take a little inspo from the ingredients/ vitamins in this.
