What’s in season in May? May is where it starts to get a little more exciting. It’s still too early for summer fruits and berries, but many spring greens are coming into season and plates can start to look more vibrant for a slightly more affordable price.

Ingredient of the month
There’s no official ingredient of the month next month due to Recipe a Day May. However, looking at my list, can we pretend it’s potatoes? I definitely have enough recipes in my May drafts to schedule one a week and pretend that was intentional.
Recipes to try this month
Thankfully, even though there are no new ingredient of the month recipes coming this month, I already have plenty containing the above ingredients, so there’s a plethora to try.
A new one from last month’s list, fresh and light and perfect as it starts to get a little bit warmer.

The risotto technically isn’t in season as it doesn’t contain much in the way of fresh ingredients, but it’s a fantastic one to make up of pantry staples and the (in season) garlic butter asparagus makes an excellent side.

This recipe contains so many in season ingredients, and it’s a great versatile side dish.

Yes, this is technically from my Christmas series, but potatoes are in season and potatoes are always a good idea.

A really easy recipe, and a great way to sneak some extra vegetables into kids.

Which is your favourite ingredient in season this month?
Until next time,

We pretty much live on chickpeas, watercress, and rocket salads. Love this! Thanks for sharing.
