White chocolate is my favourite, but it’s always left out when it comes to the fun flavours and snacks, especially the dairy free options, so I’ve made my own deliciously sweet and creamy vegan white chocolate hazelnut spread (vegan white chocolate Nutella) recipe for you to use in all of your chocolatey dessert recipes.
This recipe contains just three ingredients and takes minimal effort to make, perfect for beginners.

Changes in Colour or Texture
I’ve mixed the spread shown to be 90% smooth, but you can mix yours to be fully smooth or crunchy. To make it fully smooth, depending on your food processor or blender, you may have to mix it for up to 10 minutes, be patient!
The final colour of your nut butter will vary depending on several factors; the colour of your hazelnuts, the depth of the roast, if there’s any peel still on the nuts when you start to blend and the depth of colour of your chocolate. Don’t be alarmed if two batches don’t come out identical or if yours is a slightly different colour to mine. You probably haven’t done anything wrong!

Food Processor or Blender?
You can use either or both, and which is better depends on the final texture you want and how powerful either of your appliances are. If you want to leave your spread slightly crunchy, a food processor is better as you can start high and pulse it later to have more control. If you want a fully smooth spread, a blender will probably be better.
How to store and keep
Store in a jar or container somewhere away from direct sunlight, no need to refrigerate unless you’re in a very warm climate.
Ingredient Choices
I melted down some vegan white chocolate bars for this recipe, and that worked fine, but I find the best results come from melting chips/ small buttons like the Moo Free White Baking Drops.

Vegan White Chocolate Nutella
Creamy vegan white chocolate hazelnut spread recipe with just three ingredients. Spread on toast or use in your baked goods recipes.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan. It may be soy free depending on your choice of dairy free white chocolate. It does contain nuts.

Vegan White Chocolate Nutella
Ingredients
- 60 g hazelnuts
- 105 g vegan white chocolate
- 2 tsps vegetable oil
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 175c. Place the hazelnuts on a baking tray and roast for 10-12 minutes. Remove the hazelnuts from the oven and peel them. Rolling them with a teatowel/ paper towel is a great way to peel them if you’re struggling. It’s okay if there’s still a small amount on the nuts and you don’t get 100% of it.
-
Melt your vegan white chocolate in the microwave, checking it every 30 seconds to ensure it doesn’t burn.
-
Add the peeled hazelnuts and melted chocolate to a food processor or blender on high and mix until it has the texture of a coarse nut butter. Add the oil and mix again until smooth.
-
Once ready it will have the texture of a loose nut butter but will firm as the chocolate sets.
Serve and enjoy!
Until tomorrow,
Sophie
