It dawned on me recently that I’d never had vegan frozen yoghurt, which also meant I hadn’t had any fro-yo in at least 6 years. I’ve been disappointed many times by sorbet being the only dessert on the menu, and I didn’t understand why when frozen yoghurt was theoretically so simple to make. So, I decided to try and make my own vegan mango frozen yoghurt recipe. The flavour was chosen in honour of all of the mango sorbets I’ve previously been offered as the only dessert on the menu.
But, you can make this with any fruit that you like! As long as it’s something that can be mashed with a fork, like berries, or kiwis, you can follow the same steps and make it any flavour you’d like.
I used to really like frozen yoghurt, and although it would have been really simple to make a plain one and add all of the toppings, I wanted to play around with some flavours. And the result was far better than I’d hoped. I used Greek style yoghurt, and the result was so creamy that you could easily serve this is a healthier alternative to ice cream, and it’s so simple to make!
I made mine with a bit of texture in by including fork mashed mangoes, which is then mixed into the yoghurt further when it’s being churned in the ice cream maker. If you’re not a fan of bits, no problem! You’ll just have an extra step of blending your mango into your yoghurt mix before adding it to the ice cream maker.
Suggested Recipe: Coconut Free Vegan Ice Cream Recipe
You do need an ice cream maker for this recipe, but even the most basic ones will do the job. If you don’t have one and you’re vegan or have other dietary requirements, I highly recommend having one. It helps a lot when you only have basic options in a supermarket. When I became gluten intolerant, a lot of my favourite vegan ice creams were off the menu because they had pieces of wheat cookies in them, this helps a lot to create your favourites at home!

Nutritional Information
Obviously, fro-yo isn’t going to be the most nutritionally dense food ever. But because of the fruit and the higher protein yoghurt, it does have a couple of good things going for it.
Each 100g serving contains 3.2g of protein and 2g of fibre. The mango provides 20% of the recommended daily amount of both vitamins A and C per serving.

Vegan Mango Frozen Yoghurt Recipe
An easy, creamy vegan mango frozen yoghurt with easy to source ingredients. The perfect summer dessert recipe, ready in less than 45 minutes.
I used Alpro Greek style yoghurt for mine. Any other brand of Greek style will also work, as with another thicker yoghurt alternative like coconut. If you opt for coconut, note that the nutritional information per serving will be considerably different.

This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan. It may contain soy depending on the yoghurt of your choice.
