So, at the weekend, as in three days ago, I got an idea. I was adding the finishing touches to my smear test post and couldn’t help but think ‘this could be more’. Before I knew it, I was searching available domain names. Yesterday, thismonth.co.uk became mine.
That’s right, This Month is moving. Here are all the details. Also, yes, yesterday. I’ll have had it about 14 hours when this goes up.
Why?
As I said, I thought it could be more. And this blog doesn’t have room for it to grow. Expanding that series would have only pushed me more towards the lifestyle end of the spectrum when in reality, I’d like to keep this space as foodie as possible. I always schedule my food/ recipe posts and slot other things around them in my planner. Being ‘slotted in’ doesn’t exactly sound like a flourishing environment for a non-food related series.
I love This Month, and you seem to as well. Those posts always do well, the conversation in the comments always make me smile. It deserved a home of its own to grow.
What’s Changing?
Here? Nothing. I’m not changing my schedule at all, three posts a week, mainly recipes and food, a little bit of beauty here and there too.
There? I’m aiming for one new post a week over there and the content I’ll be talking about will be expanding. There’ll still be posts like Sunday’s, and everything you’re used to seeing in the This Month section here.
The new blog (it feels weird saying that) has 4 categories:
- Let’s Talk About… – Posts like the smear test post, female issue posts.
- I Tried… – Posts like my period pain pads post or the WUKA post, reviews. Stuff you’re used to seeing here too.
- I Read…- This is new! I’m going to be reviewing books and discussing articles I’ve read relating to periods & female health. Think discussions about things like tampon tax, reactions to new product lines being developed and such.
- The Diary – Back when I started This Month, I did some light hearted posts where I talked about weird things my hormones were doing to my skin and what I was craving. Those posts will be coming back.
Is it ready?
Yes and no, it’s live and there’s a new welcome post up, but it’s not fully ready yet. Over the course of this week, I’m going to be adding the This Month posts already up here over there so I can have it all in one place, from the beginning.
Is This Month Done Here?
There’s going to be one more here. I have an ad going up soon that has been in the works for a while now and they didn’t sign up for a new domain with a DA and following of 0, so that’s coming here. After that, we’re done. I’m not removing the posts here, but I won’t be adding more either. At least that’s the plan. I don’t even know if I can call this a plan, it all happened very quickly. It might become too much to manage both blogs and suddenly return to where it came from. Time will tell.
Moving On
If you like those posts and/ or the sound of what I’m planning, I’d love it if you could stop by and check out its new home. And, erm, maybe increase my follower count from zero while you’re there? Please.
Check out This Month 2.0 here.
Until next time,
Sophie

I love this idea, it’s a great idea to do it as a separate blog, and fab that the domain name was available! Looking forward to seeing it grow and reading all the posts on female health will be very interesting and helpful to read also.

Congratulations on making the move to separate out your niche’s, and good luck when it comes to running the two of them. It sounds like this is going to be a super exciting venture and personally, I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Over the last year or so I’ve really loved reading about female issues in a candid, non-frigid way, so I’m really excited for those sorts of posts! I couldn’t see a way of following you via WordPress on your new domain (I’ve just realised I can do it over here after liking your post, but you don’t have likes enabled on your other domain), but I have followed you on Bloglovin’, so I hope that helps with your follower numbers.

It sounds like you are pivoting in a different direction. Good luck with the new domain. We are here to support you no matter what direction you take.
I’m excited for this new step you’re taking! I love each category you’ll be diving into, and I’m ready to follow this new space you’ve created xx
Beautiful and inspiring blog, well done.
This is such a good idea. I love the whole concept of it and I’m so looking forward to a dedicated space about these issues! You write so well that it’s great you’re giving the topic the space it needs to grow. I’m not on WordPress cause I’m from the 1700s, but I’ll follow your new blog on Bloglovin!

Oooh good luck on your new blog! Running two at the same time sounds crazy, but I’m feeling so much positivity and excitement from your words that I don’t feel as concerned. You can do this!
Wishing you all the best with your new blog! It sounds like it’s going to be great!
This is so exciting, Sophie! I love the way you write as well as the actual content, so I’m excited to have another place to find it! Best of luck with it!

I love this idea Sophie! A blog dedicated to all those “taboo” topics around female health is definitely needed. Best of luck with it! <3

Congrats on the new blog, that’s so good! I think it’s such a good idea to expand on what you’ve already written about real-life things, but I completely understand wanting to keep Glow Steady as a food blog. Honestly, I love that decision because I love your recipes, and would hate to see them go/be pushed aside I can’t wait to read what you post up on there, once it’s fully launched! ☺️
