I know, a smoothie recipe in summer, original. But this summer smoothie recipe is a very different one for me, it’s the first smoothie recipe I’ve ever posted that doesn’t contain a milk alternative, and it’s a texture I never normally opt for.
This smoothie recipe is an inbetweener. It’s just about thick enough that you could have it as a smoothie bowl, providing that you don’t want to use any heavier toppings. But it’s also just about thin enough that you can drink it (use a straw – it’s too thick to tilt). That neither one thing or another style of smoothie isn’t usually one I like. However, having the option to do either without having to think about it too much has been a positive lately. I like that you can have this one as is, or turn it into a much bigger meal with plenty of toppings without having to change the recipe, and it’s nice that almost all ingredients are in season.
Melons and strawberries are both in season right now, mangoes unfortunately are not, but they’re a frozen ingredient and I like to tell myself that they may well have been in season when they first entered that bag on the way to the freezer.

Nutritional Information
This smoothie recipe contains 35g of protein and 6g of fibre per smoothie. In terms of vitamins and minerals, each smoothie contains 20% of your daily calcium, 10% of your daily vitamin D, over 100% of the RDA of vitamin C, 20% of your daily folate and 10% of your daily B6.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Hear me out, this is a fruity berry smoothie with peanut butter protein? Yes, just trust me on this one please. You can’t massively taste the nut butter, but it adds an extra level of creaminess to the flavour that I really enjoy. If it’s a little too weird for you, feel free to swap it for vanilla or strawberry, but it’s seriously worth a try.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. It does contain nuts from the peanut butter protein, but you can swap that for a nut free vanilla or strawberry vegan protein if you need to make it nut free. And my version used a soy based Greek style yoghurt, but you can opt for an oat or coconut yoghurt to make this recipe soy free too.
Not a fan of strawberries? Swap them for another in season berry such as raspberries or blueberries.

Summer Smoothie Recipe
Fresh and easy summer smoothie recipe with just five in season ingredients. Perfect for an on-the-go breakfast, snack, or adding some of your favourite toppings to make a more filling meal.

Summer Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients
- 100 g frozen mango
- 100 g strawberries
- 80 g cantaloupe melon
- 125 g Vegan Greek Yoghurt
- 1 scoop vegan peanut butter protein
- 80 g spinach optional
Instructions
-
Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you’re using a cup blender that needs to be turned upside down, try to ensure the berries or the melon are the last ingredients you add to the cup. Having them blend first creates enough liquid to easily blend the frozen fruit.
-
Drink as is, or transfer to a bowl and add your favourite toppings.
Serve and enjoy!
Until next time,
Sophie
