AD – Gifted | Before I begin this rant, I want to be very clear that this is an area that is constantly improving. In the almost 6 years since I started eating a vegan diet, the options available in the average supermarket have increased an expediential amount, and even more so if you’re looking at specific free from websites. And I’m very appreciative of that, but that doesn’t stop me from having a mini tantrum in the supermarket every time I’m shopping for vegan sweets. Â

The Tesco Tantrum
Anyone who has ever been vegan or vegetarian, or had an allergy to gelatine/ animal product will know that the constant label reading is a bit of a chore. You get used to it, and after a while, you become pretty good at guessing what will and won’t contain something that you don’t want to eat. And of course, you develop favourites along the way so you don’t need to read a label every 3 seconds. While I have a pretty good idea which crisps/ savoury snacks are going to have some sneaky milk powder added in by now, the confectionary aisle is still a constant state of disappointment. Â
Suggested Post: March Food Favourites
Here’s the thing, I feel like when it comes to things like sweets and chocolate, there are new things allllll the time, more so than some other aisles of the supermarket. And common sense tells you not to look at the milk or white chocolate unless it’s on the free from aisle, but the new dark chocolate with milk in it will always be a stab in the heart.
If I’m completely honest, that aisle is one that gets me down quite a lot. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that my diet is pretty healthy most of the time. If I’m looking for sweets/ chocolate it either means I want something for a recipe, or I really really really want a sugar fix (read: potentially hormonal and more prone to a dramatic reaction to reading the word gelatine). So, the disappointment hits a little harder than it probably should.
Bored of the same vegan sweets on repeat?
With more and more options becoming vegan friednly, I have more optimism than ever when I check the labels. Which only makes it more crushing when they do contain gelatine, or my new favourite, gelatine free but contains beeswax. More often than not, I pick up the same bag of Candy Kittens and call it a day. No disrespect to the Candy Kittens, but it gets boring. Â
Making Shopping For Vegan Sweets Easier
But things are getting easier, especially if you can prep in advance. So, if say 1kg of vegan pick n mix was in your cupboard, life would be a bit easier? I used to love pick n mix, it’s nice to have options and maybe not know what you’re going to pull out of the bag next. But that’s not a realistic option if you have dietary requirements a lot of the time. Â

However, Panda sweets allow you to pick your boxes by dietary requirements, whether you’re looking for veggie, vegan, gluten free, soy free etc. You can click and get a mixed box safely knowing you can eat it. And because you don’t have to read the labels, no fun is sucked out of the process. Â
Now, I’ve received a lot of amazing things in PR, but I was SO excited to receive this box. Each box contains a mix of fizzy sweets, regular jelly sweets and marshmallows, so there should be something for everyone. If you can’t already tell that I was excited, I had sour cherry cola bottles for the first time in years. And they were the one thing in the box I told anyone that came near it that they weren’t allowed to have…
Â

Whether you’re looking for a gift idea for a vegan in your life (trust me, they’ll be happy) or you want to make your own life a little bit easier, these are great. Or now we’re allowed to have proper over again and you want something everyone will enjoy, something like this is super easy to arrange.
Or, let’s be real, if you’re still hiding from the world and watching Netflix (me) – also perfect.
It’s so nice just knowing the box is there, no fuss. No Tesco tantrums, just a box whenever the sweet tooth calls. And just as delicious as you’d expect a pick n mix to be, vegan or not.
Do you have dietary requirements? Please tell me you relate to the confectionery aisle frustration if you do. Â
If you’re interested in getting a box of delights for yourself, you can get 15% with the code ‘GLOWSTEADY’ until 31/07/2021. Enjoy!Â
Until next time,Â

I’m certainly happy that vegan sweets are becoming more available. Enjoy!
I’ve always been a big fan of vegan chocolate and yoghurt but I’ve never tried vegan sweets! Gluten is the bane of my life so it would be great to try these!

I get so annoyed by milk in dark chocolate. Why on Earth do they do that?! Have you tried marshmallows from M&S? Those are so nice, better than Dandies, for me.
I love the sound of these sweets. 🙂
These all look so good!
I can’t even imagine how much of a faff it must be to find vegan friendly sweets! It looks like there are so many amazing sweets in the pick n mix from Panda sweets (those sour cherry cola bottles look SO good) x

This is great! I don’t eat a lot of sweets, but like you – there are times when I’m really craving something lol That being said, I also struggle with the sweets aisle in our local grocery stores. I love the idea of a company where you KNOW that you’re getting products that you can enjoy. No surprises, no disappointments, just a nice treat for your sweet tooth lol I wonder if there’s something like this in Canada?
I have not had pick and mix in so long! Grocery stores now package the ‘bulk bins’ in the candy aisle in bags because of the virus, so mixing sweets just is now the same. Love that you found the perfect treats to mix up your sweets experience! I look forward to checking out Panda Sweets.
Thanks for sharing!
I definitely understand the frustration of reading labels and trying to decipher all of the sneaky ingredients. It really can be so tedious. The Panda sweets sounds like such a fabulous find… thank you so much for sharing!
Looks delicious Vegan sweets perfect for my son who has allergies Thanks a lot for sharing it Cris

I watched a food documentary earlier today that featured vegan chocolate, whereby they used rice floor to replace powered milk to give it it’s chocolatey taste. Apparently it took a lot of trial and error to find this working alternative, which I image is the same with all attempts to find vegan alternatives
Suas postagens são ótimas, estou seguindo seu blog e curtindo bastante!! Parabéns!
Hey that’s an awesome post. Although I am not vegan, but can surely try the sweets. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow, what a fun treat! I always am on the lookout for more vegan treats, so thank you for the discount code!
Love this! So glad Vegan and Veggie sweets are becoming more widely available!
Great post! Thank you for sharing! This brand sounds amazing and I love that you don’t have to worry about checking the label! I’m glad that there are more vegan sweet options out there now!
