I know that we’re still in February and it isn’t exactly smoothie season just yet, but for those looking for an easier way to add some more fruit to their diets or those who don’t mind a smoothie on a colder day, this pineapple smoothie recipe is perfect. It provides 3 of your 5 a day, only requires four ingredients and doesn’t require any hard to find ingredients.

Typically, I opt for a smoothie bowl over a liquid smoothie, but I think pineapples are one of the best ingredients for liquid smoothies. They’re so naturally sweet that you can add just about anything else to the mix and it will still taste good, and they’re quite juicy/ watery, which makes them blend like a dream and gives your final product a fairly smooth consistency.
Nutritional Information
The guava juice I used happened to be fortified, so the nutritional information listed here will not be correct for plain guava juice, but I can’t find a complete nutrient breakdown for plain guava juice that isn’t fortified to use instead, so please note some of the micronutrients are due to the fortified juice, not naturally occurring.
This whole recipe makes approximately 750 ml of smoothie, so the following nutritional information is for half of the recipe.
Each serving contains 166 calories, 5g of protein and 4.5g of fibre. In terms of vitamins and minerals, each serving contains the full daily amount of vitamin C and a third of the recommended daily amount of B1, B3 and B6, 30% of your daily folate and 25% of your daily B2 and B5.

Ingredient Choices and Substitutes
Personally, I still like mine to be cold and don’t like blending with ice (it’s a texture thing), so I opted to use some frozen mango in this recipe to make the smoothie a little bit thicker and keep it cool. If you’re not so bothered about it being cooler without adding ice, you can use fresh mango if that’s all you have to hand.

Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
Fresh, naturally sweet pineapple smoothie with just four ingredients.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan. Mine contains soy because of my brand of Greek Style yoghurt, but it can also be made soy free depending on your chosen brand.

Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh pineapple cubed
- ½ cup frozen mango
- 3 heaped tbsp vegan Greek Style yoghurt
- 1 cup pink guava juice
Instructions
-
Add all ingredients to a blended and blend until smooth. To prevent the frozen fruit sticking to the base/ sides of the cup, add the liquid or fresh fruit before the frozen.
Serve and enjoy!
Do you like smoothies all year round or are you a strictly summer only person?
