Almost all of my smoothies are berry or cherry. Whether it’s for a recipe post or simply making breakfast at home, I typically don’t stray too far from using berries as my main ingredient. Unless I’m making something deliberately green and healthy that is. And I was getting a little bit bored. So, I decided to make something else with a recipe as simple as my typical berry ones that I could add to my regular rotation and decided to make this tropical smoothie bowl recipe.
Originally, I’d planned to make this as a liquid/ drink option. Then I got a little bit carried away and ended up making this a smoothie bowl instead. The result? You’ll find a recipe for both the bowl and the drink down below. Although I’m happy to eat a smoothie bowl for breakfast, I know that a lot of people prefer to drink them, so I’m giving you the option. All of the ingredients are the same, just slightly different amounts.
Oh, and this recipe was made under lockdown so if we could all pretend there’s half a sliced passionfruit and some extra nuts sprinkled over the top of the bowl, that would be great…
Nutritional Information
Tropical Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Both mango and pineapple are high in vitamins C and A, so this recipe contains just over a third of your daily vitamin A and over 100% of your daily vitamin C. As I used two non-dairy products and both were fortified, you also get just over a third of your daily calcium and vitamin D.
Including the ½ a scoop of protein and the soy non-dairy products, this recipe contains 20g of protein per serving without any added toppings.

Tropical Smoothie Drink

Obviously, the nutrition for the drink is similar. The drink still has over 100% of your daily vitamin C and 20% of your daily vitamin A. As it contains the same amount of yoghurt and non-dairy milk, the calcium and vitamin D are the same.

Vegan Tropical Smoothie Recipe (no banana)
A healthy, balanced tropical smoothie recipe. This recipe contains a source of protein, a variety of different fruits for carbohydrates, and the option of adding healthy fats so it should keep you going for a while before your next meal/ snack.

Vegan Tropical Smoothie Recipe (no banana)
Ingredients
Bowl
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 100 g fresh pineapple
- 1 alpro pineapple passionfruit yoghurt
- ½ cup non-dairy milk of choice
- ½ scoop vanilla protein
Drink
- ½ cup frozen mango
- 1 alpro pineapple passion fruit yoghurt
- 1 large slice fresh pineapple
- ¾ cup non-dairy milk
Instructions
-
You know the drill with a smoothie, add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Remember to add the liquids first so the frozen mango doesn’t get stuck to the bottom.
-
Once smooth, pour into a bowl or glass and add your chosen toppings if you’re opting for a bowl!
Serve and enjoy!
Do you guys like the sound of this tropical smoothie recipe? Would you rather have the bowl version or sip on the drink?
Until tomorrow,
Sophie
This looks delicious, and the frozen mango makes it a lot easier to manage ingredients-wise. I tend to find that when I go on a smoothie kick I get a lot of fresh stuff in and then struggle to use it all before it goes bad. And I never thought of adding yoghurt as well as soy milk, that’s a really good idea though!
Now this is something I can make, I loveeeee mango and pineapple!
This looks so delicious. Will make one tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love mango, so this one definitely gets a thumbs up from me
Yumm this looks amazing! Now that the weather is getting nicer I like to make different things for breakfast and this looks perfect. I don’t actually think I’ve had a smoothie bowl before but I want to know x
I have all the ingredients to try this out for breakfast tomorrow. I’ve never made a smoothie bowl without banana before :o. Yours still looks thick, which I like. I’m excited to try!

This looks perfect for the summertime and looks yummy! Thank you for sharing, I’m gonna have to try this ASAP!
This looks so tasty. Might give it a try tomorrow. Also written a similar post on The Grad Hub blog for students on recipe for the perfect smoothie bowl, check it out https://blog.thegradhub.com/2020/05/03/tessas-table-build-your-own-smoothie-bowls/
This sounds delicious! I think I’d prefer to sip on the drink 🙂
I need to make this! I love mango and pineapple. Thank you for creating a banana free option, although I do enjoy our curved fruity friend its hard to find a smoothie recipe where it doesn’t dominate! xx

I ADORE pineapple flavoured things (and just, you know, pineapple) so this sounds delicious. I actually think I have the ingredients for it as well, which is even better. Love the sound of this, although I can’t decide if I’d go thicker for a smoothie bowl or a drink. Remains to be seen…
I saved this because I totally plan to try to make this! Thank you for sharing.

Yummmm! This looks and sounds delish! Thanks for sharing the recipe 🙂
Passionfruit, mango, and pineapple are three of my favorite fruits, maybe because they all remind me of the sunny beaches I have always wanted to visit. I love a good tropical smoothie so thick it is almost like ice cream, and love how you incorporate the passionfruit in the yogurt!
I love smoothies, especially the topical flavours. Just so refreshing!
This sounds so good and refreshing!
The smoothie bowl looks very enticing! I like the fact that you point out the high nutrition in this dish. When I make smoothies, I usually add greens and even frozen avocado chucks for extra creamy goodness. Avocados are high in Vitamin E, healthy fats, and fiber.
I like to make two smoothies at once, so I have one ready to go the next day.
Yup! I need to get back on the smoothie train. I think we have a blender somewhere! I love mangoes so this would be perfect!
Mmmm! I love smoothie bowls! I am all about the aloha vibes hehe. Big plus that you can also turn this into a smoothie. This is great for times when I don’t exactly have the time to sit and eat. Love the simplicity!

This sounds like my perfect snack. I love anything tropical flavoured, mango and pineapple is an amazing combination <3
This looks so tasty and healthy! I might have a smoothie bowl tomorrow xx
This sounds very refreshing, I would probably enjoy it as a drink and a bowl. Would be a lovely breakfast or quick snack, especially if I’m late logging in for work it would be nice to have a lil smoothie I could drink to keep me going.

Mango is my FAVOURITE main ingredient for all of my smoothies or smoothie bowls, so I’m obsessed with this recipe!! Adding a yoghurt like that one is such a great idea as well, love this xx
Thank you! I love mango but I always forget about them, I need to start eating them more as it gets a little bit warmer x
I really need to try and make more smoothies and smoothie bowls x
This sounds so delicious. I personally prefer a smoothie bowl over a drink. Thank you for sharing.
