Okay, it was my birthday last week. And I was planning on going out for the first time since March 2020. First drink out, first meal out. And what could possibly make this more stressful other than letting other people choose my food and half of the places I wanted to go being shut due to track and trace pings? So, after the best part of 18 months indoors, I’m clearly no longer able to choose from a menu for myself and I let my Twitter followers choose what I ate on my birthday.

Breakfast
Obviously, my morning started at home with breakfast. And I really wanted pancakes. Thankfully, my followers are seemingly nice people and 90% of the vote was for what I wanted. I didn’t let you pick my toppings though, so I made some choc chip pancakes, drizzled in peanut butter and butterscotch syrup with a little squirt of soy whip.
11am

Thanks guys.
Breakfast was about 11am, and as it was my first time eating out, we booked a stupidly early table in the hope that would mean there was no one around, so there was no lunch/ snack poll for the afternoon.
Dinner
I’ve got to admit, the evening polls were slightly less kind than the breakfast one in terms of percentages. A few people voted for just sides for dinner… Thankfully, with roughly 60% of the vote, pizza with toppings of choice won the vote. Unfortunately, I’m an idiot and forgot to take a photo.
I wasn’t sure what I could have in terms of starters, so I simply asked the polls to decide whether I was having one or not. About 90% said yes, so we ordered a couple to share, which I did remember to take a photo of…
4:30pm ish

Dessert
Birthday cake won the dessert poll, so I was having that at home and managed to wait a couple of hours between courses.
The birthday cake in question was a simple vanilla with buttercream frosting from Lazy Day Foods. It’s free from the 14 biggest allergens and for a gluten free/ vegan cake from a box was a lot better than I was expecting.
Once again, you picked the cake and I picked what I was having it with. So, the soy whip came back out along with a scoop of homemade cookie dough ice cream. The recipe for that is coming next week if anyone is interested.
8pm

And that was my day! If we’re keeping this 100, I did also get takeout dessert from the restaurant which I had for breakfast the next morning. But there was no cheating on the actual day. If anyone voted, thanks for being kind. I told one of my best friends I was doing this and she made it very clear she was going to be picking the worst option for each meal. So thank you for being nicer than the people I know in real life.
Would you have picked these options?
Until next time,
Sophie
Happy Birthday. This is very cool idea that followers choose what you ate. I like breakfast and dinner choice.

This is such a fun idea! Although it did get me thinking…who voted for just sides for dinner?! I’d definitely be team pizza – it’s your birthday after all! I hope you had a lovely time celebrating 🙂 x

Looking at the final percentages I think three people voted for just sides, and I asked my friend who said she’s pick the worst options and she said even she wasn’t that mean so I have no idea who the secret haters were
Happy belated birthday!
