I picked avocado as my ingredient of the month this month because it never fails to amaze me how creative people can get with it. And more to the point, how many things you can do with it that you can’t even taste it in, and this avocado fudge chocolates recipe is no exception.
These chocolates are deliciously smooth with the avocado making this recipe creamy and fudgy rather than a firm chocolate.
When it came to serving this up, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to make these as a square, like a small snack, or a tiny bite sized chocolate, so I ended up slicing up my dish half and half. For the smaller pieces, you should get at least 60 bites, or up to 30 squares.

Ingredient Choices & Substitutions
You can customise this recipe to add any flavours that you want, today I’ve opted for orange and pecan, but you can make this without nuts and add fruit, or switch the extract/ flavourings you’re using to suit your palette.
If you want to switch out the vegan margarine, you can swap it for coconut oil, but don’t swap it for any other vegetable oil. It needs to be something that’s able to set to a solid form.

Nutritional Information
The following information is for the square pieces, if you’re opting for bite sized pieces, simply halve it!
As these pieces are so small, there isn’t an individual vitamin or mineral worth talking about here, but each square of these avocado fudge chocolates contains 83 calories, 1.5g of dietary fibre and 1g of protein.

Avocado Fudge Chocolates Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup vegan margarine
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 teaspoon orange extract optional
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 3 cups icing sugar divided
- ½ cup crushed pecans
Instructions
-
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the vegan margarine over low heat.
-
Place it in a food processor along with the avocado and blend or puree until very smooth. Be sure there are no chunks of avocado left.
-
Transfer the puree mixture to the saucepan and place over very low heat. Add the orange extract and the cocoa powder and about ½ cup of the powdered sugar, stirring to combine well. Continue adding the powdered sugar until it has been fully incorporated.
-
Once all the sugar has been added, the mixture should be thick. Add the chopped walnuts if desired, and transfer the mixture to a loaf pan.
-
Refrigerate until firm, 4 to 6 hours.
-
Slice up the avocado chocolate fudge into squares and enjoy.
Serve and enjoy!

I love avocado ❤
Oh my gosh Sophie you’ve done it again! These look insane! I’d swap out the pecans for something like dried cranberries, but I love the sound of the creamy avocado goodness!
