If you saw my health unwrapped post last week, you’ll know that chocolate is my ingredient of the month. And for the first one, I saw that as an opportunity to have some fun. This recipe doesn’t contain enough cocoa powder for each cookie to provide 50% of your daily iron requirements or anything like that. But cookies are fun, and that was the only excuse I needed. As you’ll see, this has been named a vegan Nutella cookies recipe. And actual Nutella isn’t vegan, so we’re using an alternative today.

Nutritional information
So, I used the M&S plant kitchen chocolate hazelnut spread. As a result, I don’t know exactly how much is in this recipe in terms of vitamins and minerals/ how much cocoa powder (and iron etc) is in this recipe.
The following information is more of a ‘this recipe contains at least the following amounts’, not a this is exactly what this includes. Obviously, that’s only true for micronutrients and the macros are all correct.
The basics – each of these cookies provides 190 calories, 2.5g of protein and 2.6g of dietary fibre (11% RDA).
In terms of the micronutrient information I do have, each cookie provides at least 10% of the RDA for vitamins E and D, a quarter of your daily copper and an eighth of the RDA of magnesium. As for the iron, each cookie provides at least 1.5mg, which is roughly a sixth of the RDA for men and women over 50 (8.7mg) and a tenth of the RDA for women 18-50 (14.8mg).

Vegan Nutella Cookies Recipe
This recipe is so easy to make for absolutely everyone, it can be done in a few simple steps, and I made mine in a food processor so there’s very limited amounts of mess.
If you’re tempted to just eat the cookie dough, I tried a bit and can’t say that I don’t recommend it, the dough is ready in less than 10 minutes. However, if your dough feels a little bit too moist and sticky to work with, chill it for 15-20 minutes then continue to roll into cookies.
These cookies are a rich triple chocolate with chunks of hazelnut, definitely not one for someone who doesn’t love chocolate, and certainly more indulgent than an average afternoon snack.
I’d always recommend waiting until they cool, but if you eat one when it’s still ever so slightly warm, you may still find gooey melted chocolate and chocolate spread oozing through the middle.

This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, vegan and can be soy free depending on your chocolate and butter choices. It does contain nuts.
These are soft bake cookies, bake for a few extra minutes if you’d prefer some crunch!

Vegan Nutella Cookies Recipe
A rich soft bake nutella cookies recipe – triple chocolate with chunks of hazelnut, the ultimate afternoon snack for a chocolate lover.
Ingredients
- 1 cup oat flour GF if necessary
- ¼ cup vegan butter
- ¼ cup dairy free chocolate hazelnut spread
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 2 heaped tbsp cocoa powder
- ¼ cup high percentage cocoa dark chocolate
- 30 g hazelnuts
- 1-2 tbsp non-dairy milk of your choice
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 180°c and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper, you may need two trays.
-
Add the chocolate spread and vegan butter to a food processor along with the sugar and mix until fully combined. Slowly add in the flour and cocoa powder and mix until a ball of dough starts to form. Add the milk if necessary.
-
Take half of the hazelnuts, add those in and pulse a few times until it looks like you’ve stirred in some chopped hazelnuts. If you have chocolate chips, stir those in now. If you have a block of chocolate, pulse that in the same way you did the hazelnuts.
-
Split your dough mix into 10 equal sized servings, roughly one heaped tbsp each, then shape into cookies using your hands. Alternatively, place the dough in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to chill and make it easier to shape, if you’d prefer/ if your dough is too sticky.
-
Once they’re in your desired shapes, place on a lined baking tray, place a hazelnut on top of each cookie and cook for 12-15 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!

Oooh I love the sound of nutella cookies. I absolutely love cookies, but I don’t have them very often. My usual go-to when I make cookies are white choc and raspberry ones but I’d be happy with any flavour cookie haha xx
Oo, nutella cookies! Loving the looks of these moist and potentially chewy treats; sometimes a little bit of fun is just what you need. My favorite cookie is chocolate chip but, as a chocolate lover, I must try these.
Thanks for sharing!
Oh my God how amazing do these look! Gluten really flares up my endo so I will be sure to try these.
these look SO GOOD, do you think you could use coconut oil instead of vegan butter?

I’m a simple girl, I see nutella, and I click straightaway :’) I love your vegan take on it as well! Though I would probably opt for using nutella in a remake of these, I’d definitely have to try your version as well at some point x

I wonder if I could replace hazelnuts with another type of nuts? BC I don’t like hazelnuts tbh. This recipe sounds really good, especially the oat flour. My favorite cookies are white chip macadamia nut cookies, but I don’t know how to make that vegan tbh.
These look and sound delicious! Best of all, I can eat them without modifying the recipe! 😀
I haven’t tried M&S Plant Chocolate Spread (I’m not able to get to one while we’re in lockdown), but I tend to use the Nature’s Store version which is quite nice.
OMg I’ve made thissss! cannot wait for them to come out of the oven!!
