Toast always tastes better at night and sometimes chocolate tastes better on a morning. If you’re like me, chocolate always tastes better on a morning and you’ll love this brownie batter oatmeal recipe. It’s rich and indulgent with melting chocolate and swirls of nut butter, you’ll feel like you’re eating cake. Actually, it is rich. You might want this as a dessert option instead.
Nutritional Information
I know I said it’s like cake, but it’s a chocolate cake and chocolate can be good for you. This recipe contains 4.7mg of iron, which is about a third of the recommended daily amount for women under 50. If you opt for a fortified milk, this recipe will also be a source of calcium and vitamin D, possibly other B vitamins depending on your brand of choice. It also provides just over a third of the RDA of vitamin E. per serving, this recipe provides 12g fibre and 16g of protein (which I actually think is pretty good considering you’re eating chocolate cake for breakfast).
Vegan Brownie Batter Oatmeal Recipe
A rich and indulgent brownie batter oats recipe, a perfect breakfast for those with the sweetest tooth, or perhaps a dessert option for everyone else. Thick and creamy, oozing with melted chocolate and nut butter.
As it’s so rich and sweet anyway, the choice of vegan milk doesn’t make much difference for this one, so use whatever you have to hand. For the nutritional information, I opted to use hazelnut milk.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan. It does contain nuts and soy.

Vegan Brownie Batter Oats Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup GF oats
- 1 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 squares chocolate
- 2 tbsp powdered nut butter
- 1 tsp peanut butter
- Chocolate chips to serve
Instructions
-
Add the oats, cocoa powder and half of the powdered peanut butter to a saucepan and stir to evenly coat the oats. Turn on the heat to a low to medium, and add the non-dairy milk. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly and do not allow to boil. Once the oats are nearly cooked and starting to thicken, stir in the peanut butter and chocolate.
-
Wait until the chocolate has melted and the oats are ready, then pour the mix into a bowl. Mix up the remaining half of the powdered peanut butter and pour over the top, swirling it in a little bit. Top with more chocolate chips before serving.
Serve and enjoy!

This sounds amazing! I would probably have it as a pudding over breakfast as I’m not too big on sickly things especially in the morning, but it sounds fab for a treat in the evening.
