How to store, keep and does it reheat?
You can keep this dish refrigerated for a few days, but ultimately, reheating won’t taste as good as it does fresh. To reheat and not have it turn to mush, the best method is to roast the tips, which will take longer than it initially took to cook them. Preheat your oven to 200°C and spread the asparagus out on a baking sheet. Toss them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and bake until heated through.

Ingredient Choices and Substitutions
I’ve seen grilled asparagus recipes that call for chunkier pieces of asparagus and, personally, that’s not for me. I opted for the finest asparagus I could get to get that slightly charred crunch, and that’s what the cooking times below are based upon. If you’d prefer the fatter tips, that’s your choice, but I’d add an extra minute or two to your cooking time to ensure the centre is actually cooked and it’s not crunchy because it’s still raw.
This recipe contains pine nuts as an added crunch and some healthy fats. You can skip the pine nuts if that’s not for you or swap them for the same volume of seeds for the same crunch and healthy fats if you need to avoid nuts.
Grilled Asparagus Recipe
A light and healthy grilled asparagus recipe with optional extras to make a healthy but tasty side dish for all your spring/ summer mains.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan friendly. It can be nut and soy free depending on your choice of dairy alternatives and if you avoid the pine nuts.

Grilled Asparagus Recipe
Ingredients
- 110 g fine asparagus
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp pine nuts
- 1 tbsp vegan parmesan optional
- Salt and pepper
- 2 cloves garlic minced
Instructions
-
Lay the asparagus in a pan or bowl and sprinkle with salt and pepper and toss in the olive oil.
-
Place the asparagus on the grill or grill plate in a row. Grill for 5-10 minutes over medium high heat until they have char marks and are fork tender. A couple of minutes before removing the asparagus from the grill, heat a frying pan on medium heat and add in the pine nuts. Toss frequently, ensuring they’re cooking evenly on both sides. Remove asparagus and place back in the pan. Toss with garlic and parmesan cheese.
Serve and enjoy!
Until tomorrow,
