(AD) Hi guys, this one is a little different. A little while ago Jenny did a food related post and I left a comment saying that my eating patterns are crazy in winter. Winter is a struggle as a food blogger, you get minimal daylight hours and you can’t exactly put your stuff away and try again tomorrow if the lighting is bad. I’ve made the food, I need to get my photos now. As a result, I eat ‘dinner’ meals at 11am far more frequently than a normal person. Jenny replied to my comment saying she’d like to see what I was eating for breakfast, and I thought it could turn out to be a funny post. So here we are, everything a food blogger eats for breakfast in a week. Â
This is winter. Obviously, as spring and summer approach, this isn’t necessary. That’s part of the reason recipe a day May is recipe a day May, not recipe a day February. As someone who hates summer, the extended daylight hours are about the only thing I look forward to purely for the practicality of actually being able to eat my dinner at 7/8pm. Â
The week I’m featuring is mid-February, so there was less light than there is when you’ll be seeing this. During this week, I was prepping for my Pancake Day post, Strictly Seasonal recipe(s) and I’m still following the Hair Growth Diet quite strictly.Â
I was going to start this on a Monday, but I made my breakfast Sunday morning and thought this was exactly the kind of ridiculousness I was hoping to get in this post. So, the week in question is starting Sunday, February 17th.Â
The days don’t necessarily mention it, but each morning starts with a coffee, or three. Looking for gifts for any other coffee lovers out there? How about coffee gift boxes?
Sunday 17th Â
Pancakes Â
This was the day I made the pancakes for my Pancake Day recipe post. Peanut choc chip pancakes with Ben & Jerry’s just after 9am. Casual. If you made them I really hope it was later in the day than this. Â

Monday 18th Â
Lentil pastaÂ
If you know, you know. The hair growth diet staple, a classic at this point. Â

Tuesday 19th Â
A bit of everything. Â
I was making something for a recipe post a little later in the day and didn’t know if I wanted to commit to a full, regular meal for breakfast. As a result, I ended up with a cracker with pumpkin seed butter, an apple and a handful of walnuts and seeds. Â

Wednesday 20th Â
Erm…coffee? Â
So I had my ‘go-to salad’ at around 12, if that counts? Maybe I skipped breakfast and had an early lunch, but my day started with coffee. This coffee was gifted to me by Dog & Hat, they sell a variety of coffee beans from a variety of roasters, mainly in the UK. They sell whole bean to ensure you get the freshest taste possible. You can buy gift boxes and subscription boxes, perfect for any coffee lovers in your life and Mother’s Day is coming up!Â

This particular roast was from The Blue Bean Coffee Co, it’s deliciously smooth with soft fruity notes.Â
Thursday 21st Â
Mixed berry oats. Â
Wait, that’s a normal breakfast food. Day 5 and I have a regular food, excellent. Â

Friday 22nd Â
Lentil PastaÂ
No explanation necessary. If you still don’t know, full explanation here. Â
Saturday 23rd Â
Gluten Free Bagel w/ Pumpkin Seed ButterÂ
I’m obsessed with the pumpkin seed butter now. It’s replaced nut butter in my life. Originally, I didn’t want to try it because it’s green and looks gross, but it’s amazing. This bagel was actually sent to me as part of a market research study, not for blog purposes, this isn’t an ad. They aren’t available to buy yet but I hope they launch because it was the best gluten free bread I’ve ever tasted.Â
Â
This week actually turned out looking fairly normal, probably because it’s getting lighter a little later. In December/ early January, my breakfasts were things like caramelised squash toast, bean mash, anything that I needed to get a photo of was my breakfast. No matter what that was. Meals are just a social construct though, right?Â
Please tell me I’m not the only one who does that? What’s the most random thing you’ve ever had for breakfast? Make me feel more normal about this…Â
Until next time,Â
Sophie Â
These look like yummy breakfasts but I confess pancakes and ice cream is the one I want to try the most, haha! 🙂
My breakfasts are pretty boring – cereal and milk!
Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Whoa! these all look so delicious! Seeing all of ’em I’m craving for ’em especially Peanut choc chip pancakes right now! I love to have pancakes on breakfast, and sometimes seeds!

Yum – all of those look so tasty! I am a huge fan of having cereal in the morning, but I feel like I need to spice things up a bit haha…

This is such a good idea! I know there are some people who prefer to eat later in the day, or aren’t big breakfast-lovers, but it’s honestly my favourite time of day! Not a day goes by when I don’t make time for a big breakfast in the morning, and they’re sweet 90% of the time. Hence why I’m drooling at your pancakes and mixed berry oats haha. I recently experimented making baked oats with mashed sweet potato and it was actually incredible.

Oh those mixed berry oats look amazing!!! Pasta for breakfast is strange but we love a good pasta dish xxx
My breakfast is always the same. Cereal and milk. Which does not even fill me up until lunch to be honest! I’d defo go for the pancakes, coz they are my fav thing to have for breakfast! and so easy to make too!
Omg I loved reading this haha! It’s so funny to see that you don’t eat “normal” meals at “normal” times! As my boyfriend works shifts currently, we often have more ‘dinner’ meals at 11 or 12 as well instead of on an evening! xx
I love breakfast – hands down my fave meal haha! I won’t lie, sometimes I’ll eat cheese cake or ice cream for breakfast. But it’s usually just cereal! xx

You made me hungry! Everything looks so delish! For breakfast I usually have protein pancakes with peanut butter and fresh fruit, and on Sunday some sweets and a cheat meal 🙂

I love the concept for this post, it made me laugh even before I started reading. I think my favourite recipe is your fruity oats as I love porridge and granola. But to be fair, I could also eat pancakes first thing too, especially with chocolate and peanut butter. And yes, it looks odd but I’m intrigued by the pumpkin seed butter now. My breakfasts are quite boring, I’m afraid, no lentil pasta! x

More power to you
Wow I never actually thought about it before how food bloggers would struggle with doing dinner recipes cause of the light! Those pancakes do look incredible! I wouldn’t say it’s random but I’ve often had leftover takeaway pizza for breakfast! Clare xx | https://www.clayaa.com
Wow your meals really are all over the place those pancakes are my dream breakfast food- the ice cream is an added bonus! The weirdest thing I’ve had for breakfast is probably leftover enchiladas from the night before. I definitely needed to go food shopping that day thanks for sharing x
Those pancakes look delicious and I would definitely eat them with ice cream at 9am lol (my eating habits are also questionable). And I didn’t know pumpkin seed butter was a thing but I love pumpkin so I’m gonna try it!
What an interesting week of breakfasts I must say. I’m not a big breakfast person but I LOVE brunch food and pancakes recently. The pasta seems like an odd choice but maybe I’m missing out and need to be more adventurous with my breakfast choices haha.

Pumpkin Seed Butter , Just sounds so amazing! I love breakfast so the fact I have only heard about this and seen it makes me want to head over to whole foods and do a shop! Love the post xo
Yes winter can be challenging for blogging/photography in general due to the lack of light. Your week of breakfast/meals looks amazing. Hahaha I am not too adventurous when it comes to breakfast. I also have low blood sugar so I always have to eat breakfast. So I keep to oatmeal, toast and or eggs

I love how colorful all of your meals are! I seriously have the same egg on an English muffin breakfast every day! I don’t have much time for anything else.
Omg these food look so good!

Your mixed berry oats look great ♥ I must admit, I almost always eat the same in the morning, I wish I had some variety in it ..
These are all such wonderful selections. I need to try those pancakes.

Love the food choices!

Because I have a softbox light, I never actually think about things like this! I can’t believe you’ve eaten bean mash for breakfast hahaha. To be honest I really don’t eat breakfast a lot, if I do it’ll be toast, eggs or literally just a cup of coffee. Partly because I’d rather spend more time in bed, partly because I’m too lazy and partly because if I eat much in the mornings I feel really damn groggy! I do like a good bowl of porridge in the colder seasons though with some banana and honey but a bit later morning!

I’m not a food blogger at all, but I love the honesty in this post Sophie! Hahah, I’ve never tried pumpkin seed butter but it sounds really nice! I’ll have to give it a go.
p.s the pancakes look lush!!
I will admit that I’m not much of a breakfast person for the most part, but when I do it’s rarely ‘breakfast food’. Which is funny because I love traditional breakfast foods and often eat them for dinner haha

I laughed out loud about meals being a social construct! This is a great post, really enjoyed it! The most random thing I’ve ever had for breakfast? Raw eggs in a mug. Yeah I know 🙂
Now I’m hungry!! Great post! Everything looks so delicious! Especially those pancakes! Yum!!
Ohh I love pancakes and oatmeal for breakfast!
I think the craziest thing for breakfast I once had was ice-cream 🙂

I love that you have such a wide range of different foods for breakfast, I kind of wish I could try out more food! I’m so boring, at the moment I’m having mushroom on toast for breakfast quite a lot, but because of getting to work I never usually give myself much time to make anything too fancy for breakfast! I do have some weekends though where I go all out and I’ll either make some pancakes or do a full veggie fry up!

I still find it crazy having pasta for breakfast, not sure I could do it Your breakfasts are certainly more varied than mine, I tend to just stick to porridge or sometimes eggs. Those pancakes look AMAZING! That green pumpkin seed butter though… I’m not sure on that!

It is always interesting to see what people eat over the week. I should definitely give this a try, hehe. I love how you’re eating really well. Oooh, your mixed berry oats look delicious! Mmm, the pumpkin seed butter looks delicious as well. I haven’t tried this but considering how I recently started liking almond butter, this should be fine as well, hehe. Thanks for sharing these delish food ;).

Oh I need to try those pancakes! And yes, for breakfast with ice cream! I’ve never tried pumpkin seed butter but it sounds like something I’d like, especially considering how much I love other nut butters!
This was so interesting to see and I love the sound of that pumpkin seed butter (even if it is green lol). I think the oddest thing I’ve had for breakfast is a burger but it was around 11am I had it so more like elevenses or brunch.
