5 Things I’m Looking Forward to This Autumn

AD Gifted | Now I don’t mean to sound like every other basic female on the internet right now, but I love autumn so much. The colours, the weather, the fact it’s socially acceptable to wear knitwear daily and carry a hot drink everywhere. There’s very little I don’t love about this glorious season, but here are a few things I’m looking forward to the most this autumn. 

With the pandemic, I feel like I skipped a huge amount of the things I love about autumn last year. I didn’t shop for new pieces because I wasn’t leaving the house, I think I wore a classic autumnal lip twice, in my house and enjoying the change in the weather and crunching those leaves were at a minimum too.

Christmas Recipe Prep 

Now, I know what you’re thinking, Christmas definitely isn’t in autumn. But I post my Christmas recipes in November, and most of the prep gets done in September and October. So, I’ve already made a few and some others are in progress. I’m not the biggest lover of Christmas, but I love Christmas food, so Christmas recipe prep is one of my favourite times of year in my kitchen.

Autumnal Makeup  

I feel like a lot of people love autumnal makeup, but at the same time, it gets overlooked a lot. People love to cling to summer for as long as possible, then you blink and people are talking about festive/ party season looks. Which is all well and good, but that leaves the month of October and October only for those deep berry lips and golden bronze eyes.  

Shopping for new pieces 

I didn’t shop for new seasonal pieces last year because I simply didn’t leave the house. This year, I’m looking forward to getting a few new pieces. Only classics like chunky knits that can be worn season after season, but a little wardrobe refresh.  

One recent addition that my wardrobe was severely lacking was a cute but practical coat. I have a huge coat collection, I’m always cold, I always have a coat on, and hardly any of them are practical. I have a lot of coats that aren’t exactly rain friendly, and one dog walking coat that’s warm, plain black and a little bit…ugly. 

I recently got this faux fur hooded coat (gifted). It’s warm, has a hood, and the PU material means I can get caught in the rain without ruining my outfit (or hair), but it still looks cute.  

Leaves Falling  

I know, I know. An autumn classic, but with a warmer September, I’m still waiting for that autumn crunch under a chunky boot.  

More specifically, I’m looking forward to Hugo running around in a pile of leaves, having the time of his little furry life. He loves playing in leaves, and it’s the cutest thing ever.   

For anyone unfamiliar, this little cutie is Hugo.

Flavoured Hot Chocolates 

I’m not massively into PSL season, but the autumn drinks quickly become the Christmas flavoured drinks in mid-autumn time and the candy cane hot chocolates, mint and orange everything? Yes, please. Ideally sat somewhere with an open fire, but I’m not going to be too fussy about that one.
