AD | Evolution has helped the human body to go through a lot of changes over the millennia but some things never change.
For instance, unwanted body hair. Your body hair would have played a vital role if you were still living in a cave and eating raw meat. Your body hair would have provided you with insulation during the harsh winters and kept you dry by keeping most of the moisture away from your skin when it rained.
These days, the hair on your skin hardly does anything productive apart from trapping excess heat and moisture thereby giving rise to foul body odour. This is one of the many reasons why, both men and women these days, choose to get rid of their body hair using a plethora of unwanted hair removal techniques such as LASER body hair removal.

What is Laser Hair Removal?
A high-intensity LASER beam emanating from a special wand-like instrument attached to a piece of equipment meant for cosmetic LASER body hair removal technique will be aimed and fired for short intervals at the target areas of your skin from where you want smooth body hair-free skin.
When the LASER beam hits the target areas, it reaches the hair follicle beneath your skin that is responsible for creating the body hair strands. As soon as the LASER beam hits the hair follicle, it will be rendered inactive for a long time.
Why shouldn’t you hit the gym after your LASER body hair removal treatment session?

There are plenty of reasons why you should avoid hitting the gym after you received your LASER hair removal treatment.
For instance, as per the opinion of the lead dermatologist associated with a premiere skin clinic in the UK, you would need to avoid taking hot showers or participate in any strenuous activities for at least twenty-four hours after the treatment session. Why?
Well, during your treatment session, your skin has already been subjected to the intense heat of the LASER beam which will obviously lead to some degree of redness and swelling around the hair follicles in the target areas.
While these effects are temporary, things can go very wrong if the target areas are subjected to further sources of heat like:
- Sunlight
- Tanning booths
- A trip to the beach or
- Friction from your gym clothes when you are at the gym.
Things can get further downhill from here if the treated areas in your skin are being subjected to your sweat. You see, sweat not only contains a lot of waste products and salt, but it also contains bacteria which can worsen the condition of your treated skin thereby leading to skin infections.
Hence, to keep all of these at bay avoid hitting the gym for at least a day after you have had your LASER unwanted hair removal treatment.
Conclusion
LASER hair removal is a tried, tested and safe body hair removal technique that has time and again delivered commendable results but there is a catch – you will only see advertised results when you choose to get this treatment from a revered skin clinic that has the best talent as its workforce. Hence, exercise caution while choosing a skin clinic that offers LASER body hair removal treatment.
Have any of you had laser hair removal? Or been tempted to give it a go?
Until next time,
Sophie

Oooh I didn’t know this, I have never had laser hair removal, but I never knew this, definitely going to take this into account if I do go down this route!
I’ve thought about doing laser hair removal for a while now. Really want to do it!
Thank you for this info. I will definitely remember it!

It makes sense not to go to the gym or anything that can cause sweat or skin irritation after getting a laser hair removal. My friends said you can’t shower for the rest of the day after getting one. Definitely worth it because you don’t need to worry about shaving or waxing so soon. Thanks for sharing some insight!

Didn’t realise you couldn’t go to the gym after laser hair removal! I’ve always wanted to get it done but it can be quite expensive, maybe one day in the future when I’ve saved up, defo something I wanna get done!
That’s interesting, I guess the body needs time to return to regular heat and normal stage. Great tips, thank you for sharing!
It is so important to be clued up about what to do and not do!

Goodness, who knew?! I am unlikely to go to the gym, lol, or probably get laser hair removal but I know some friends who do both and I can guarantee they don’t know/follow this rule. Thanks for the info, I will be passing it on!
I actually did not know it was recommended not to hit the gym after this procedure, but it makes total sense! Especially all that friction, depending where you got the hair removal, can be detrimental..
This was super helpful! I’m thinking about starting laser hair removal sessions. Do you recommend going to a professional or is laser hair removal just as effective if you do it at home? Thank you for your answer!
Great post! I’ve never tried laser hair removal before but I’ll definitely take this into account if I ever do – taking precautions is so important! Thanks for sharing x
I did a little laser hair removal for my legs before I got pregnant with my eldest but it wasn’t something that could be proved completely safe in pregnancy so I stopped and never found the time again – only had 2 sessions, haha! I knew about staying out of the sun but didn’t know if would stop you going to the gym! thanks for sharing! And the reminder that I should really look into doing this again, haha!
Hope your week is off to a good start 🙂 We went to a theme park yesterday with the kids, so much fun!
If I do try laser hair removal, I will try to remember to do it in the winter thanks to you. Here in Phoenix, it’s 100+ degrees for at least 4 months each year!
I have never had laser hair removal, and never knew those tips, but they make a lot of sense when I think about it. Thanks for sharing!
Huh! Thanks for sharing!
It’s not something I ever thought about so this is interesting!
Great post!
