Confession: most years, Veganuary passes me by. As someone who has been eating that way for a significant amount of time now, I typically don’t notice the fuss around vegan food in January. I kept up for the first couple of years, then started to get annoyed that a lot of the new products popping up were limited edition. Then I became gluten intolerant and couldn’t partake in a lot of the fun anyway and that’s pretty much when I stopped paying attention. But this year, I decided to take note and challenged myself to do a Veganuary grocery haul full of stuff I’ve never tried before, and I thought I’d share it.
There was no real strategy here. I clicked on the Veganuary offers tab when I was doing my online shop and added pretty much anything that sounded good. Of course, it’s all vegan and gluten free for me, but in case anyone is new here, I also don’t eat fake meat, so you won’t be finding an abundance of alternatives here.
I was really looking forward to potentially trying some new brands that I hadn’t tried before and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone when it comes to brands I already know and love.
Veganuary Grocery Haul
I’ve already mentioned that this is a full week of things I’ve never tried before but missed out that there’s obviously a few boring exceptions like my regular brand of gluten free bread, and some fresh ingredients to make side salads/ vegetables to go with the stuff I’m about to mention, but I’m not going to bore you with the mundane cupboard stuff.
Unfortunately, I had an almost full basket of new products from new brands, but I wasn’t logged into my account and the second I added my postcode a few of those brands disappeared, unavailable in my area, so I was left having to mix in some familiar brands too.

New Launches, Old Brands
I’ve tried so many Schar gluten free bread products and snacks, but I’ve never had a Schar meal. So as much as this is a familiar brand, this all feels very new. Both of these products are new launches from the brand, which is exciting. They’re also the only freezer items in my order this week.
- Schar Gluten Free Pizza Veggie Vegan
- Schar Plant Burgers (I grabbed some Schar hamburger buns too, but I don’t think they’re new)
Old Brands, Old Products
I’ve tried a bunch of products from both of these brands and have liked most things I’ve tried from both. Both are made with a high amount of fresh ingredients and although they’re ready meals/ convenience food, it still feels like you’re getting something good for you.
Bol
Gosh!
New Brands, I Don’t Know Products
Everything about these products is new to me, but I have no idea if these are new launches or if these specific products have been out for a while.

Re-Nourish
- Renourish Immunity Soup Kale, Spinach & Turmeric
- Renourish Strength Soup Spicy Lentil & Roasted Red Pepper
Do Goodly
I’ve seen this brand so many times and I don’t know why I haven’t tried them yet because they sound like products I’ll adore (fingers crossed for these ones).
I’ll be trying everything listed here over the course of the next week then reporting back with my list of recommendations and things to skip (if there are any). And if you want to try any of these bits while any Veganuary offers are still on, everything here had a use by date of at least a month after the date of purchase and the majority of the fresh items can be frozen if you want to pick up a few bits on offer to try later.
Have you tried any of these items?
Until next time,
Sophie
