Have I ever mentioned that I love nut butter? You’ve probably figured that out on your own by now, but I think nut butter is the perfect flavour for anyone who has a sweet tooth on a morning. And if you think about it, it’s creamy, a source of protein and healthy fats, so it’s really the perfect ingredient for a smoothie bowl. And this peanut butter smoothie bowl is any nut butter lover’s best friend.
The best smoothie bowl flavour?
Reason number 3885 why nut butter is the best flavour for a smoothie bowl is that it automatically works with just about any topping you can think of for your bowl. Granolas are often nutty or seedy, which obviously works perfectly with nut butter, you can make it healthier with fruits, or more dessert like with chocolate chips – or both. And all combinations work effortlessly.
Ingredient Choices
Now, this smoothie bowl doesn’t actually contain any nut butter. I know, I know, but here me out. I used half an avocado for the base of this recipe, along with some Greek style yoghurt, so it was already very thick and creamy and had a good source of healthy fats. I opted for powdered peanut butter instead as it mixes well with the protein powder and offers even more protein.
You could sub the powdered peanut butter for regular peanut butter if you want to, but I think the texture works well with the powdered variety.

Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl Recipe
A thick and creamy, high protein vegan breakfast bowl ready in less than 5 minutes with the richness of a dessert, perfect for those with a morning sweet tooth.
As I mentioned above, you could top yours with some fruit to make it a little bit fresher and healthier, I opted for the opposite and topped mine with some granola and some Livia’s Kitchen Cookie Dough Bites. What can I say? Chocolate almost always tastes better on a morning.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan. Mine does contain soy, but you could opt for dairy alternatives and protein powder that doesn’t contain soy if that’s necessary. It does contain nuts.
