(AD/ Gifted Clothing) So, you’re going out again, or maybe you’re not. If you’re anything like me, you’re sat wondering where 2020 has gone, and you’re starting to think about transitioning into autumn clothes and questioning if summer really happened when you were tucked inside your own four walls.
I had a little moment last week where it hit me how long it’s been since I’ve done certain things. I haven’t eaten a meal I haven’t cooked myself since March. Nor have I had a drink in a pub/ bar since March. I haven’t been on a plane since LAST APRIL. Okay, the plane part is irrelevant, but it’s been a while since I’ve done a lot of things I would have considered normal. Translation: I’m thinking about transitioning into my autumn winter wardrobe and realising I haven’t really had a reason to dress up/ make an effort all summer. Or spring. You might catch me in a ballgown the first time I finally decide to go out for dinner at this rate.
Dressing Up For No Reason
A couple of months ago, I did a post about making an effort where possible, dressing up a bit and putting some makeup on generally makes you feel better than lounging around in baggy t-shirts 24/7 during lockdown. I think it’s time for another one along the same lines. The world is still a strange place, and I’m still not really venturing further than a food shop. But I know most people are actually daring to leave the house at this point. While I’m dressing up to go nowhere and transitioning into a new season doesn’t matter as much from the comfort of my own sofa, you might actually be looking for clothes to be seen in outside of the house. Wild concept.
Transitioning Into Autumn
I recently added this red playsuit to my wardrobe and thought it was a perfect transition piece because it can obviously be worn alone, or how I’ve got in on here layered up as we enter autumn. Tweed is obviously a slightly thicker fabric anyway, so perfect as it gets a little cooler. Layering it up makes it a little more daytime friendly too, so it’s still a good piece for those not going out just yet.

Shop the item: Red Tweed Playsuit
Aaaand on that note, ignoring everything I just said about thicker fabrics and cooler weather, I also have this satin, open back baroque playsuit. Which is actually quite appropriate considering September decided to have a mini heatwave. But this is still a great option for autumn thanks to the colour palette, and it looks great with an oversized blazer over the shoulder.
Shop The Item: Black & Gold Frill Playsuit
I love playsuits, a lot of them look like a dress but give you that extra bit of security. They aren’t as awkward as jumpsuits, you know that I’m talking about, and they’re great items to take you between the seasons.

Shopping 2020
Both of these pieces are very 2020 friendly in the fact they aren’t too trend orientated. Tweed is a popular fabric in every autumn and winter collection, and black playsuits are pretty timeless too, as is the baroque print on this one. So, they’re both going to be safely worn next year even if my evening wardrobe doesn’t get used to its full potential this year. 2020 is definitely a year to be thinking about the longevity of pieces, whether you’re thinking about your wallet or the impact of fast fashion on the planet, pieces that are going to last longer than a season are definitely smarter fashion choices.
Have you been shopping recently or are you still shopping your own wardrobe until this crazy time passes through? Which of these pieces is your favourite?
Until next time,
Sophie
These both look so lovely! I would definitely wear them both, the tweed playsuit would be ideal for the Autumn weather and the other playsuit is so pretty so would be fab for an evening out to dinner! I have been out to eat a couple of times now since the whole lockdown thing, although I have yet to go clothes shopping.. not sure when I’ll go back out and do that xx
I love these play suits and I also love how you styled them. My favourite has to be the black and gold one, I love that you can wear it either during the day or dressed up a bit in the evening! X
I love pieces that are able to transition through the seasons simply by styling them differently. That’s a great way to stretch your wardrobe without having to add additional items. After all, many of us are working with limited space (and budget) for our clothing – so we need to make the most of it!
Love the outfits! They look great on you!

The black and gold playsuit is so pretty! I love the back, too. It looks really comfortable.

Wow, you are wearing that black and gold frill playsuit! I actually love the idea of dressing up indoors, I imagine it can be quite uplifting and confidence boosting too.
Story of my life – where did the year go?! Time really flew during the pandemic. We haven’t done so much of our normal everyday pre-covid lives. It’s hard, but I guess we somehow transitioned to what we have today without too much thought. I am all about dressing up for no reason, even if it is for the lulz. I do that at least once per week hehe. I love your outfits!! They’re super cute and have a great fit!!

Both of these outfits are lovely. I love the transitional pieces that you can wear when it is slightly warmer, as well as when it is getting a bit more colder.
I can’t believe we are coming into Autumn…what a year it has been!

Oooh! I’m loving that red tweet playsuit! And I agree that could be safely worn next year, for sure.
I’m still shopping my own closet, taking advantage of the fact I’m not going out as much to do so 🙂
Wow, lovely fall outfits! I’m excited to start wearing more jumpers and even a jacket, I’m tired of the heat! Lovely blog post!
xoxo Olivia

Such a beautiful array of clothing I particularly love the first dress. You look beautiful.
I think my playsuit wearing days are LOOOOOOOONG gone but I’m trying to persuade Flora that she’d look good in one (she loves jumpsuits). I adore that second one (although both look fab on you) that’s so cute! Lisa x
I bought a couple of playsuits when the weather went really hot but other than that, I’ve been really restricted this year. But like you, I’ve not dressed up for ages and trying to make a bit more of an effort now for my own well-being if nothing else. Loved this post – those playsuit are both so cute!

I’m a huge fan of playsuits! I love these two that you picked. Autumn fashion is the best. It’s so nice to have more choice and mix things up a bit more. You look fab! x

I really love the red tweet playsuit. Tweed is such a fab material in seasonal pieces.
Black play suits and jumpsuits are such fab transitional pieces xx
These are some great pieces, especially that red playsuit. I’ve tried not to buy anymore clothes as I have so much already.
