Once upon a time when I did my first post ranking different gluten free products, I ranked different pastas and threw a random packet of GF gnocchi in that post as I stumbled across it while browsing the pasta section. Fast forward a year, and we now have a post ranking the best gluten free gnocchi options. Since that first post I’ve seen more and more gluten free gnocchi brands cropping up and I’ve finally gathered enough to warrant one of these posts.

Now, this post is going to be a little bit different. I got plain gnocchi from each of my five brands. For most of them, that was the only option available, but for the couple that had flavour options, I stuck with the plain to keep it fair.
If I’m brutally honest, 4 of the 5 tasted identical. The one that was better came in larger pieces than the alternatives, which I thought gave it a better texture than the others, which is the reason it’s getting a higher ranking. Ranking them in order of taste seems irrelevant for this one, however some of them do have quite a significant price difference, so I’m going to be sharing the one that’s taking first place, then the others will be ranked according to affordability.
In terms of cooking time, they all took about 3 minutes. Gnocchi is obviously a great choice if you’re short on time, especially if you’re serving it with something like pesto rather than a sauce you have to cook.
As with the pasta post, I’ve served them all with the same pasta sauce to try and make the comparison as fair as possible.
The best gluten free gnocchi
Garofalo Gluten Free Potato Gnocchi
400g, £2.99
74.8p/ 100g
As I mentioned above, I liked this one a bit more because the pieces were larger which I thought gave it a better texture

The other gluten free gnocchi options
Before I start, I’d just like to say that none of these taste bad. All of the gnocchi brands taste like gnocchi, if the one above gets a 5/5, the following four all get a 4/5. There isn’t a single item in this post that I wouldn’t be willing to eat again.
Difatti Gluten Free Plain Gnocchi
250g, £1.95
78p/ 100g

Ciemme Gluten Free Organic Quinoa Gnocchi
400g, £2.99
74.8p/ 100g

La Gnoccheria Gluten Free Gnocchi
250g, £1.79
71.6p/ 100g

Farabella GF Potato Gnocchi
500g, £3
60p/ 100g

Have you tried any of these? Or do you have any other recommendations for me to try next?
Until next time,
Sophie
I love how you like to create a fair playing field for your reviews. This was interesting that four of them tasted the same and it really came down to size and texture for you. Great review.
I don’t follow a gluten free diet but my gosh they all look delicious!
Oh I could eat a bowl of this gnocchi right now! It looks delicious! x

Interesting. While I’m not gluten free, I do have family members that are. Knowing this will help me to be better prepared to make meals for them when they are visiting (good meals, not just whatever says ‘gluten free’ hahaha)
Thanks for this. I’ll be keeping an eye open for some of them this weekend as my wife has gone gluten free.
It is always so interesting to see a line-up of different brands all making the same thing and see what makes one stand out from the other! I think it hard to go wrong with pasta, but we have our favorite brand too. 🙂
Honestly I can’t tell the difference from one pasta to another. I would eat them all and not even know it! LOL!

Looks yummy ❤
I hope you weren’t sick of it by the time you were done if they all basically tasted the same and were done with the same sauce. It’s good to know that they are reliable, even if they differ in price. Great post!
That’s good to know that there’s some good GF gnocchi options out there now! Have you tried any of the flavoured ones since and are they better/worse than the plain ones? I have just bought some beetroot gnocchi (not GF though) and am interested to know what they’ll be like.
I haven’t tried any of these, although I do like gnocchi I don’t have it that much. But like you say, when you’re looking for something quick to cook it’s a great choice! It’s pretty good that there’s a fair amount of GF gnocchi options! xx
