AD| After all these weeks in lockdown, autumn seems to have snuck up from nowhere with its darker evenings and drop in temperature. Although many people have not experienced a ‘proper summer’ this year, it’s already time to start thinking about getting cosy and welcoming in the colder weather. The last week or so I’ve seen a dramatic drop in the temperature, and I’ve been thinking about getting autumn ready.
This year may be a year like no other seen before, but there is still something exciting about the changing of the seasons and the promise of a new start that comes with it. Preparing for autumn doesn’t need to be about just digging out your jumpers from the depths of your wardrobe and packing away your tees for another year. One of the best things about the transition from the summer to the autumn is the chance to completely change your style and create a whole new look for the new season. Changing your look is always an excellent way to give yourself a boost and to re-energize your style, and this year that change could be more welcome than ever. Here is a little autumn inspo to get you ready for the new season:
Makeup Makeover
Autumn is the ideal time to rethink your makeup and try something new. Instead of trying to achieve the perfect glow, why not embrace the colours of the season and opt for the warm tones of autumn in your makeup choices? Remember when I got that Beauty Bay Fiery palette in my birthday beauty haul? It’s finally time for that to thrive.

For my fellow dry skinned ladies and gents, the weather at this time of year can be especially harsh on the skin. You may want to carefully consider the formulas you choose for your make up. It is a good idea to avoid anything too drying, time to put that matte foundation back in the drawer, not use anything too harsh and reach for something more glowy.
All About the Accessories
Autumn is the perfect season for accessories. Adding a chunky scarf to your outfit will help to inject some style into even the plainest of jumpers. If you’re a little print shy, it can be a great way to add some colour and interesting pieces into your wardrobe choices.
If you wear glasses, you may want to consider getting some new frames for the new season to refresh your look. Take a look at websites such as Eyeglasses.com to find a great choice of designer frames to complement your autumn wardrobe.
Don’t Forget the Basics
Once the colder temperatures descend, it can cause all kinds of havoc for your hair as well as your skin. If you have dry or sensitive skin or have a combination of both (me), you will know only too well that keeping your skin healthy at this time of year is a big job. Going from the cold air outside and into warm rooms with central heating can leave your skin feeling dry, tight, and uncomfortable. The key is to start your skincare preparations early and take care of the basics, such as keeping your skin hydrated and building its natural moisture barrier.
Your hair is also going to need some extra care and attention at this time of year, so don’t forget to keep it nourished and conditioned so that it stays looking at its best. This includes doing your best to keep your scalp healthy too, a good conditioning treatment and a hair mask can work wonders for your scalp as well as your hair.

Have you been getting autumn ready recently? It doesn’t have to just be health and beauty either, time to get out those warm and woody candles for soup season.
Until next time,
Sophie

In my city autumn is going to hit at the end of October, but I’m already slowly adding fall accessories.

I love shopping in autumn because the colors are so pretty! And if course it’s time to stock up on moisturizer.
The colours in the palette make me so excited for this season! Autumn is my fave time of the year, and it’s come round so quick this time 🙂 Tania xx | Tania Michele
The best thing about autumn is that we were preparing to stay in anyways, hehe. The dry weather doesn’t vibe with my skin at all. I love the different things you can do to accessorize your outfit. I haven’t tried hair sprays before – I need to give them a try! It is still summer out here – I don’t think autumn hits LA until the end of October! Thanks for sharing your go-to autumn items!

This has definitely given me some ideas for getting more in the autumn spirit! Having never been a person who wore make up regularly, I’ve started to occasionally put some on in the morning for working from home – to help me make a distinction between hanging out and working – and it might be fun to experiment with some autumn looks!
Every Autumn, I crack out my Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body spray from Bath & Body Works :’) I wish I was more adventurous with my makeup, but I do sometimes opt for a orangey shimmer to the eyes during this time of year! A light wash of colour like that can be just the touch that makes me feel even more in the spirit of Fall haha xx
You have no idea how jealous I am that you guys even have Bath & Body Works, it takes everything I’ve got not to fill an extra case of their stuff whenever I’m in the US. This time of year is pretty much the only time I switch up my everyday look x
Last year I was quite big on changing my make-up on to give myself more of an Autumn look, although as I haven’t really worn that much make-up this year due to not being able to go out as much I haven’t really thought about it this year! Although I do love Autumn, and I do love being able to dress warmer and get all cosy. xx
Wonderful suggestions! The color palette is so beautiful and vibrant. I’m getting ready for fall too.

I absolutely love autumn! I like to get ready for the season by making sure I have loads of hydrating products – hand cream, moisturiser and a good conditioner! Great post x
