For the last two years, every Tuesday (most Tuesdays) I’ve had some sort of educational nutrition post in my schedule. In 2019 we had Strictly Seasonal, sharing what’s in season here in the UK and recipes using seasonal ingredients for the following months. In 2020, we had Plant Sourced focused on preventing deficiencies in vegan diets, and possibly debunking myths about vitamins that are ‘hard to find’. So, in 2021 we have Health Unwrapped.
Suggested Post: What’s in Season in Winter?
What’s Health Unwrapped?
Heath Unwrapped is based on nutritional controversy. Looking at data and studies to either establish where headlines are coming from, or debunking them as nothing more than clickbait. Then for the rest of that month, I’ll either be sharing recipes featuring those ingredients, or things like WIEADs and meal plans showing how to include a little bit in an amount that’s safe.
Confused?
Each month will be based around one ingredient, and a common claim made about it. For example, ever noticed that some people are really against soy? Well, there’s a group out there that think it can cause cancer. Health Unwrapped will look at the headlines, then the studies and data and establish where that claim comes from, and whether it has any merit.

Other topics will include coffee, protein powder, chocolate and whether it’s smart to supplement.
When does it start?
As it’s already January 5th when this is going up, the first post will be up next Tuesday (Jan 12th) and I’ll be looking at supplementation. Due to the fact it’s a shorter month in terms of Tuesdays to post, ingredients related posts will commence next month.

I have a list of about 8/9 areas to cover so far planned out for the year, but that obviously means there’s room for a couple more! If you have any suggestions or things you’d like to see covered, feel free to leave some ideas for me to look into down below.
I hope everyone had a great New Year, and you’re coping with whatever the lockdown restrictions are where you are.
Until next time,
Sophie
This will be very interesting for reading and I can’t wait new posts in this section.

I’m looking forward to this new series of blog posts. I’m interested to see what people/headlines of certain bits of food are linked to certain health claims! I always see articles about chocolate being amazing for your health but in reality like most foods it’s only good with a balanced diet but the headlines can be kind of confusing sometimes! xx
Happy New Year!
Love the sound of this new series. Looking forward to it!

This sounds really interesting! I feel like you can find a clickbait article out there somewhere claiming pretty much anything can cause cancer! It’s hard, sometimes, to weed through all the information that’s being thrown our way each time we log onto the internet.
Sounds like a great idea. I’ll look forward to reading it!
I am on a new health kick this year so I will be following your great recipes closely!
I always love seeing the reasons for a myth or belief come to light; sometimes there is a little truth in a claim and sometimes it originated from a misunderstanding so I look forward to seeing where this series takes us!
Awesome idea, I’m looking forward to see what do you preparing. It’s fantastic to focus on one thing with different perspectives..
your next read will definitely be a very interesting one! can’t wait x
