Hi guys, this is my Hungarian lecso recipe from my Taste of Hungary recipe series. This recipe is probably the most basic that I’m going to share, as well as the most versatile.
It’s incredibly simple to make and includes minimal ingredients and seasonings.
In Hungary, this dish is served alone, with bread, as a side, as a main, sometimes with sausage. There’s really no right or wrong to serve this, you can slip it into your meal plan however you choose.
This dish is about as traditional as it gets in this post, it’s a vegetarian dish to begin with, so no adaptations have to be made to make it suitable. As with all of the Hungarian recipes in this series, it’s only suitable if you like paprika, and a lot of it.
In its traditional form, this one consists of vegetables only. No potatoes, no grains or legumes, so it isn’t the most filling if you’re opting to serve it as main. The bread will likely be a necessity as a side. I saw one post mention rice as a possible side too. Not quite so traditional, but I think the flavours would work well together.
Unlike some of the other recipes, this one is sweeter. Peppers are one of the main ingredients, it uses sweet paprika rather than smoked and contains some added sugar too.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, soy free and nut free.

This one was short and sweet (literally), but let me know how you’d eat this one down below.
Until next time,
Sophie

This looks easy enough for me to handle!
This looks so good, and so simple to make too! I think I’m going to save this one so I can have a go at it. I actually have all the ingredients, so I think I’m going to have a go at it either tomorrow or in the week! 🙂
