Hi guys, I recently realised that I’d never discussed cruelty free & vegan body care brands/ products. I did a Vegmas post on cruelty free and/ or vegan beauty brands, but that was mainly focussed on facial skincare and makeup. To be honest, I found body products a lot harder to think of. A few brands came to mind instantly, then I got a little stuck. I don’t know if that’s just because I use fewer body care brands and spend less time looking into other options, or whether it genuinely is harder.
I went into detail about what makes a product vegan/ cruelty free and what the difference is in this post (click here) so I’m not going to repeat myself in this one.
As I did with my previous post like this, I’m going to leave a product recommendation for each brand. I’m going to apologise now for the fact they’ll mainly be oils and moisturisers. My skin is very dry, a good moisturiser will always be exciting.
My Body Care Routine
I use a lot of oils on my body, like almond oil*, which are naturally cruelty free. Beyond that, I use an exfoliator maybe once or twice a week and some sort of body butter or moisturiser and that’s about it. The only exception is concentrated creams/ treatment oils for when I get very dry or irritated patches in winter.
The Brands
1. The Body Shop
It will come as no shock to anyone that I’m mentioning The Body Shop. They’re known for their stance against animal testing. Although not all products are vegan, they do clearly label which ones are vegan friendly, both online and in store.
Top Cruelty Free Pick: Almond Milk & Honey Body Butter
Top Vegan Pick: Wild Argan Miracle Solid Oil for Body & Hair
2. Soap & Glory *
So, I almost didn’t include this one. Soap & Glory are a brand known and loved by almost everyone, but their ethical stand point has caused a few raised eyebrows in the CF community. They claim to not test on animals (making them CF not vegan) but they say that they can’t confirm if any of the ingredients in their products have been tested on animals historically. And they give no indicator as to what historically means, so it could be as little as last month. You can read more about that here at Ethical Elephant, she’s spoken to the brand asking for some clarification.
The fact they don’t test their products on animals is enough for some people, so I’ve opted to include them as they’re such a well known brand.
Top Product: Smoothie Star Body Butter*. It smells like heaven.

3. Palmers
I’m probably behind the times here but I only found out that Palmers are a cruelty free brand quite recently. They have a very firm policy against animal testing, but don’t claim to be vegan, although some products are.
Their newer launches very clearly state when they’re vegan, although it’s not quite as clear for some older products.
Top Product: Cocoa Butter Concentrated Cream*. Perfect for extremely dry hands/ feet/ knees.

4. Ren *
I spoke about Ren as a brand when I did my last post, so I’m going to keep it brief. I don’t like to spend a fortune on body care products usually, I save that for my face. But, I’m a huge fan of Ren and often get some of the smaller sets they release around Christmas time. They’re cruelty free but many products are vegan friendly. They always clearly label which products are vegan online. Ren are also a very eco-friendly brand, the product I’m showing today is CF, not vegan, but they make a point of reminding you that both the tube and cap are recyclable.
Top Cruelty Free Body Care Recommendation: AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum *
Top Vegan Recommendation: Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil *
5. Childs Farm **
Yes, this stuff is for kids and I definitely don’t have any, but hear me out. The beauty of kids’ products is that they’re formulated for very sensitive skin that is easily irritated. That’s exactly the kind of skin I have. They’re a fully vegan brand that sells shampoos and conditioners, bath products and body moisturisers. Their formulas have the kind of sweet scents that kids love, like rhubarb & custard shampoo and conditioner. They also have mildly fragranced and unscented body moisturisers for the most sensitive skin.

Of course, if you actually have kids, you could use these products on them but I also recommend the moisturisers for adults with sensitive skin. All products are affordable and available directly from Childs Farm, Boots* and most major UK Supermarkets.
Top Product: Mildly Fragranced Baby Moisturiser
Have you guys ever tried any of these products or do you see one of your favourite brands listed? Let me know your favourite cruelty free and/ or vegan brands below.
Until next time,
Sophie
I’ve heard so much good stuff about Child’s Farm, I really need to try out their products! Also I didn’t know that about S&G, I had always just presumed that they weren’t CF! xx

This couldn’t have come at a better time – I’ve got horrible eczema on my hands but the creams that my doctor prescribed aren’t really helping, and I’ve been wary of buying anymore because I want to only use cruelty-free items from now on. What’s worse is that it’s now spread to my scalp so now I get really conscious that people think I have really bad dandruff.
Thank you so much for your suggestion of Palmers and Childs Farm – I’ll have a look to see if we have any at our local stores!
I absolutely love Palmer’s products but I didn’t know they were cruelty free either, their lip balm is my go to product when I have dry lips! I’ve also heard of Child’s Farm, it’s supposed to be really good for children who suffer with eczema too! You’ve got some great brands here!

Great round up! I do like the Body Shop and Soap & Glory. Some of my other fav cruelty free ones are Lush, Balance Me, and Neal’s Yard
I’ve tried a few of these products, they’re great. I only used vegan and 100% natural products. Have you ever tried handmade ones?
Most of my body care consists of the Body Shop (or Lush!). I also adore the smell of Soap and Glory!
Thanks for your little roundup x

Body Shop, Palmers & Soap & Glory are all some of my favourite body care brands. You could also get body care from Lush – pretty sure they are vegan & cruelty free?

I love palmers! The scent is amazing and its such a moisturising product!
Soap and glory is another one of my favourites too, great post xx
I had no idea S&G was cruelty-free! I’m making a conscious effort this year to triple check labels before I buy products, so far this year, I haven’t bought any non cruelty-free products, which I’m very proud of!

Great post! I love the Body Shop stuff and got given an almond and honey item for Christmas – definitely looking forward to using that. I love Palmers hand cream – and actually didn’t realise it was vegan, so even better. Really enjoyed this one.
I’d be lying if I said I haven’t used my son’s shampoo never haha!
Oh there were some I’ve never heard of before, I’m going to have to take a deeper look at them 🙂 such a great post!

Well, I always learn something new when I come to your blog, and I love it!
When I think of body products that are cruelty-free & vegan, I always think of Lush, so it is nice to see some other brands listed here.
I knew Soap&Glory don’t test on animals, but I didn’t realise that they aren’t sure of some of the ingredients!
Great post…will be giving a few of these brands a try!

I love that there are growing options for cruelty-free and vegan body care products. Oooh, I hear so many great things about The Body Shop. I am still trying to make my way there! Kids products are great – they’re not packed with as many chemicals for the very same reason you talked about. Thanks for sharing some of these options!!

The Child’s Farm is brilliant, I use that myself. I buy it for my daughters but liked the smell of it, so started using it as well. It’s really gentle which I like. Haven’t been to The Body Shop in years, will have to look in it again. Love body products. Have a great week lovely x

I love The Body Shop and always want to buy everything when I go in there. The Almond Milk & Honey Body Butter sounds so good, I imagine that smells delightful. Soap & Glory have always been a favourite of mine too, although I don’t have any products of theirs at the moment. The Palmers hand cream sounds like a perfect product for this time of year! Thanks for the recommendations Sophie! <3 xx

Admittedly I haven’t actually tried any of the products or even the brands but I am always looking out for more animal-friendly products so I think I may have to look into The Body Shop as I know there is one in town! Hope you have a nice week!
I absolutely love The Body Shop! They’re one of my favourite brands!
Love, Amie ❤
The Curvaceous Vegan
This is a great help. I’ve always been confused by the difference between cruelty free and vegan. I do love The Body Shop for bath products and happy to hear they’re cruelty free.
I use The Body Shop all the tome but I didn’t realize Soap & Glory were cruelty free too.
My husband gets REALLY dry hands in the winter, and so I learned about Palmers in my efforts to help him deal with that. AMAZING cream for dry skin!

Thanks so much for this! I’ve gotten into vegan products lately and I’m always trying to find more!
Thanks so much for this! I’ve gotten into vegan products lately and I’m always trying to find more I didn’t even know some of these were cruelty free
I didn’t know that The Body Shop and Soap & Glory were vegan! I’m not vegan myself, but I do believe that supporting cruelty free brands is something we should all aim for, will definitely be looking to give them both my business and try more of their products out x
Thank you for such informative & helpful post.
You’ve mentioned some great products! The body shop is definitely one of my favourites, I have the almond milk and honey stuff and oh my gosh I love it! I also buy a lot of shower gels from them because for one, they are smell amazing! Great post 🙂
