Cruelty Free Autumnal Makeup Favourites

As I’ve mentioned about a million times now, I’m trying to transition to cruelty free beauty. And part of that is checking in each season to see what I have, what I need, and anything that I realistically need to throw away. That means that lately, I’ve been looking through my cruelty free autumnal makeup, picking out my favourites and seeing what I’m planning on reaching for over the next couple of months. 

I love an autumnal look as much as the next person, but the warmer tones and the deep burgundy and golden eyes are far from my everyday routine. There are some people out there who prefer cooler toned looks, and I happen to be one of them. So, I don’t have a huge amount in my collection that finds that typical autumnal vibe. I try to keep my options to a minimum so they don’t go to waste, but that means the products I do reach for a tried and true favourites that never seem to fail.  

Again, as warmer tones aren’t my favourites, a lot of these products are also budget friendly, so the more expensive stuff isn’t left gathering dust for 10 months of the year.

My Favourite Cruelty Free Autumnal Makeup 

Palettes  

This is the easiest category of them all for me. There’s one stand out winner here. When I think of autumnal makeup, I think of rich, warm eyes. Reds, warm browns with copper and gold.

As a cool toned fan, this was something my collection was severely lacking. But if you only want one palette for autumn, that has a great, blendable formula and great pigmentation, you need the By Beauty Bay Firey Palette.  

The Beauty Bay palettes come in 9 pan mattes, and 16 and 42 shade mixed shimmers and mattes. I have the 16 pan, which I think is the perfect size for people who don’t love warmer tones. And it’s only £10 at full price, but almost always on sale, so you don’t have to feel guilty if it isn’t your most loved palette.  

Charlotte Tilbury The Bella Sofia (Dolce Vita) 

If I’m brutally honest, I don’t think this formula is fully worthy of the price tag, but if you’d prefer to splurge a little and don’t care for a full palette, this one is a good option for warmer neutrals without being too bold.  

Coloupop Flutter By 

The other side of autumn, if you don’t think of autumn makeup looks and think of warmer reds and golds, you probably think of cooler plummy/ mauves. For that, the Colourpop Flutter By is the one. Neutral mattes, pressed glitters and shimmers make up this 12 pan palette, perfect for an everyday soft-glam, or something more dramatic.  

Liquid Eye Products 

For liquid eye products, I prefer things that can be used as two in ones – a liner that can also be used as a cream shadow or vice versa, or a liquid highlighter that also works as a liquid eyeshadow.  

Bali Body Highlighter Sticks 

As a pale skinned person, I was terrified of putting these on my eyes when I first tried them, but they apply quite lightly on the skin, while somehow being far more pigmented on the eyes.  

I have the Colurpop gel liner in a limited edition shade here, but any kind of liner or cream shadow also works brilliantly for this, such as the NYX jumbo eye pencils. 

Deep Red/ Berry/ Burgundy Lips 

I thought this would be a little bit easier for me. The vast majority of my lipsticks are reds and berries, however, a large number of them also aren’t cruelty free (I’m working on it). My favourite CF seasonal option used to be a Nars satin lip pencil, but now Nars aren’t cruelty free either, I had to dig a little bit deeper.  

Charlotte Tilbury Festival Magic (Glastonberry) 

This is a beautiful deep berry for this season. It’s a soft matte, so not too drying for the colder months. While this is a really nice shade, this might not be the one for you if you’re only going to use it for a couple of months of the year.  

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams 

A more affordable option with a similar soft matte finish are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, the shade shown here is Monte Carlo, but there are several red/ berry shades to choose from at just £6/7 a tube.
