ad gifted | I’ve been vegan seven years this year, and in that time, plant based protein products have come a really long way. It’s one thing to no longer be chalky, and to be available in more than one flavour, but every now and then, a product still goes above and beyond. And the BOXD proteins have everything I’m looking for in my dream protein.
Shop: BOXD Plant Protein
BOXD are environmentally friendly and sell vitamin-infused vegan protein powder as well as whey.
Nutrition
They’re formulated for women, and please don’t roll your eyes at the gym bro science, each serving is formulated with vitamins and minerals to help give you a boost/ top up and keep you healthy for your daily life, not just as a workout tool.
From a nutrition perspective, they also contain a higher number of vitamins and minerals than several of the leading brand alternatives, including plant based essentials such as B12, calcium and iron, as well as flaxseed as an omega 3 source.

Take that as you wish, as someone who really likes to big up the nutritional value of food and promote balance where possible, I’m going to put it out there and say that in an ideal world, you shouldn’t be looking to get all/ most of your nutritional needs from one item. But there are also several situations where it can help.

Great on the go
As someone with a smaller appetite, I love products like this for an extra boost, and for travel too. Let’s face it, we don’t all get everything we need every single day and products like this are perfect top ups when we know we’re a little short on the vitamin front. As a gluten intolerant vegan, some glorious travel destinations don’t quite offer the cuisine to support a balanced diet while exploring. I still do my best to fully embrace the culture and eat local cuisine, but always end up packing something like protein bars and something vitamin enhanced if I can’t find dishes that fit my dietary requirements that make up a balanced diet. These are perfect for that, especially as they come in single serving sachets. I know I’ll be popping a few of these in my suitcase next time I’m travelling.
Now, all of the practical uses aside, I know that the majority of us are using protein powders as part of our daily routines rather than because we need something, so how does it perform when used in regular recipes?
BOXD Protein Review/ Taste Test
If I’m honest, I’m not a huge fan of a protein shake as is (for any brand). Nothing against them, but it’s not my favourite way to consume them, so I’ve been playing with these in a few different recipes.

They blend/ mix well, and there was no chalkiness when I added some to some chocolate oats. And, most importantly, I didn’t find myself gagging on any powdery lumps halfway through either. They come in chocolate and vanilla, which isn’t a huge selection, but it’s enough to cover all of your basic breakfast/ shake needs. I personally always opt for vanilla anyway because it’s the most versatile, unless I want a specific flavour to try out a particular recipe, but that’s a niche requirement.

As someone with a sweeter tooth when it comes to this kind of product, I find these to be a good level of sweet without tasting too artificially sweet.
The Environment
Each flavour is available in a 1kg bag, or individual sachets, perfect for packing/ carrying on the go or taking to the gym etc. I know that single serving packets are somewhat frowned upon these days, but these ones aren’t going to ruin the ocean anytime soon.
All sachets are paper based, meaning they are fully recyclable, biodegradable, home compostable and marine degradable. So there’s no need to feel guilty for packing those single use sachets.
Have you tried the BOXD proteins yet? Do you prefer yours in a recipe or a straight up shake?
Until next time,
Sophie
I add a scoop of protein in my porridge which isn’t often, but i do try to add in that extra protein. I love that there’s also vitamins and extra nutrition in these! I’d definitely go for the chocolate though, ant get enough chocolate in my life haha!

Oooh these sound great! I’ve never actually tired protein powder before but I know for my own exercise and fitness journey it would be beneficial so maybe this might be one to look at!
That strawberries and cream smoothie bowl definitely looks more appetising than my bowl of porridge did this morning x
These sound great. I might actually give them a go.
So yummy❤
Boxd sounds like a great addition to smoothies and such – like you, I don’t like the taste of protein shakes so need to try the two recipes you shared for sure x
ooo these sound fab! I’m guilty of preferring something quick like a smoothie to start my day, so an extra protein boost is a great idea xx
