I’ve wanted to do this post for a really long time. So long in fact that I actually thought I’d already done it. After a thorough search through my archives, I was shocked to find that this post only existed in my head. The decision to go vegan is almost like learning to cook all over again. You need to get more creative with how you cook and rethink how you structure meals. For me, food blogs were a huge part of that, and I’m sure they are for a lot of people. So, here are 5 of my favourite vegan food blogs.
Confession time: I don’t read food blogs that often these days. Because I’m constantly trying to come up with my own recipe ideas, I don’t like to be too influenced by what I see other people doing. Because of that, most of these are long term favourites. However, when I decide I want to make something for a recipe post, I almost always Google it before I post it, see which posts are currently ranking for that kind of dish and have a glance to see how similar (or different) they are. That’s helped me find a few more. And common sense tells you I obviously like them because they’re making very similar dishes to me…
5 of my favourite vegan food blogs
The one you’re reading, obviously.
Oh She Glows
Taking it way back to the first ever vegan food blog J ever read. Most of Angela’s recipes are simple and family friendly. She has a huge selection of more indulgent treats, and almost as many low sugar/ healthier alternatives that you’d happily add to your kids’ lunchboxes. There’s very little in the way of meat substitutes featured here, which was one of the main reasons it became my go-to in the early days.
Minimalist Baker
Dana’s philosophy is really simple. 10 ingredients or less, or it takes less than 30 minutes (or both). Her content is mostly vegan, although some are vegetarian if you scroll back far enough. It’s all allergy labelled very clearly, with a range of healthier and less healthy options, simple dishes, and a lot that are more creative, I’m confident she has something for everyone.
Loving it vegan
This is one that I found cropping up a lot when I was searching recipes I was planning myself. So basically if you like my stuff, you’ll probably like Alison’s too. Only hers might contain gluten, and there’s a pretty solid chance you’ll find some vegan cheese.
Rainbow Plant Life
Nisha was actually a Pinterest discovery for me, making this blog the newest favourite on this list. Her photography is so good that it makes me want to try foods I know I don’t like. Most of her recipes are fairly simple and easy to follow, even for beginners, without being bland or boring.
Lazy Cat Kitchen
I love Lazy Cat Kitchen because it’s probably all something you’ve seen before or a dish you’re familiar with, but it’s done in a different way, or using flavours you maybe wouldn’t. All simple ingredients, but…different.

Honourable mentions
Oh My Veggies– This was a real favourite of mine when I first started eating a vegan diet. But it’s a vegetarian food blog that happens to have a good chunk of vegan recipes rather than a mainly vegan food blog.
BBC Good Food– Everyone in the UK has made a recipe from this site somewhere along the line. Whilst not even close to being vegan, it gains sweet potato brownie points for being a very popular mainstream site that has a good amount of vegan options.
Rachel Ama – Her food is the definition of mouth-watering. But most of her recipes are on YouTube and the recipe section on her website (although delicious) is very small.
The Veg Space – This is cheating because I’ve never actually tried this one. But I’ve had so many recipes saved to make at a later date for so long that my brain obviously thinks it’s a favourite even if my mouth hasn’t caught up yet.
Are any of these favourites of yours? Obviously, there are lots of amazing recipe developers out there and many more that I could have included here, but I can’t include everyone. Do you have any lesser known favourites I might not know about yet?
Until next time,
Sophie

Ooh thank you so much for sharing these! I love the idea of minimalist baker’s blog where they use 10 ingredients or less, as I find it hard to cook nice food without having to empty the whole cupboard
All of this food looks so good! I haven’t read any of these other blogs but I’m definitely going to check them out, I love the sound of Lazy Car Kitchen! X
I’ve hear of and love the first two (Oh She Glows and Minimalist Baker), but am not familliar with the rest. I’ll be checking them out for sure! That beets and cauliflower mash from the Lazy Cat Kitchen looks intriguing!
I went vegan before there was a ton of websites, so I don’t know as many blogs but have a couple favourite cookbooks. “How it all Vegan” and “The Clueless Vegetarian” are two of my faves. 🙂

All of these are new to me
I love finding new food blogs – especially vegan friendly, although personally not Vegan I cook with a lot of grains/vegetables and I really love seeing different ways to make vegan friendly dishes, always something new to read about and make! It’s a lot of fun to re-imagine how to cook vegetables!
I’ve heard of the Minimalist Baker and have made a few of her recipes in the past – including her homemade Nutella for your Nutella loaf recipe from several months ago! (best homemade Nutella hands down!) The Raw rainbow peanut noddle looks like such a bright dish!!! I LOVE IT
Pinterest finds!! Currently I’m a bit of back and forth with Pinterest in terms of finding new blogs to read about – food blog searching on there is my favorite to do though! So many different ways to make similar recipes! I haven’t heard of Rainbow Plant Life before, but from the photo you included I can definitely see their blog becoming a favorite!
I haven’t heard of Lazy Cat Kitchen before but I love the idea of cooking classics but with a twist to explore more flavors in the kitchen!

While I already knew (and loved) most of these, there are a couple that I haven’t heard of before! I can’t wait to check them out and pull some inspiration moving forward. It’s fun experimenting and finding recipes that my meat-eating husband enjoys so that we don’t have to make 2 separate meals all the time lol
I used to love the Minimalist Baker but I though she’d stopped being vegan fairly recently? x
