AD | As the benefits of a vegan lifestyle begin to catch on around the world, it is not just what people eat that they are looking at. One of the rising trends within the beauty sector is vegan cosmetics. Indeed, 36% of women will only buy cosmetics from brands who don’t test their products on animals now.
Some people may still be a little unsure about making the decision to swap. If you are in this position, the below explains why making the switch is a great idea.
They contain no animal by-products
One great reason to go vegan with your beauty products is that they contain no animal by-products or ingredients in them. You may not know this, but standard cosmetics can include ingredients such as uric acid from cows or extracts made with dead insects!
Buying vegan beauty products is a much better option if you don’t like the idea of this. And as vegan cosmetics often have fewer added extras, they are kinder to your skin too.
They are kinder to animals
It is reported that 10 million animals die or suffer from beauty products being tested on them each year. With more than 50 approved non-animal tests which could be used instead, this does not make sense. Vegan cosmetics are never tested on animals and this makes them 100% animal cruelty-free. By switching to beauty products which do not get tested on animals, you are helping to protect the natural world. (The added bonus of this is that you will also feel happy that you are doing the right thing.)
Eco-friendly packaging
Many people do not factor this in when looking at the advantages vegan cosmetics have over non-vegan ones. Many vegan products come in eco-friendly packaging which can be recycled. This is naturally much better for the planet and more sustainable. As more and more of us begin to care about looking after the environment, it’s a superb reason to start going vegan with your makeup.
Vegan cosmetics are totally natural
Another compelling reason to go vegan with your beauty regime is how good it is for your skin. This is down to the natural ingredients which many vegan products contain, from seaweed to aloe vera, chamomile and beyond. This is much better for your skin and will help to keep it in healthier shape overall.

These are all really good reasons to switch to vegan make-up products. I’m shocked that it takes 10 millions animals to produce make-up – such a crazy number! Thanks for sharing!

Definitely a great idea to buy vegan beauty products, there’s no need for products to be tested on animals and it’s important to have eco-friendly packaging too.

I am coming to the end of A LOT of my make-up products (trying to use them up) so I am excited to delve in to the world of 100% cruelty free from here on.
I’ve been looking at more and more cruelty free and vegan products. When I come to the end of my current ones (I like to use them up), I’ll be looking to buy some more. Thanks for sharing this.
