AD (Gifted) | I know when it comes to homeware a lot of people prefer to opt for neutrals, then add in colour when it comes to accessories, prints and artwork. So, why am I here saying neutral wall art is the way to go? 4. A black and white photo says more 

This one is a little geeky, but I think you get more from a black and white picture. Our brains are very easily distracted by colour. And that’s fine, but when you’re looking at something that’s black and white and being fully drawn into the light and dark, it can bring a lot more to the table. Is the white balance saying something more about the mood of the photo? Are you focusing more on the details on their faces rather than glancing at the colour of someone’s hair? This could just be me, but I find myself drawn to details much more in black and white.  

5. It isn’t distracting 

I’m going to be honest; I love a busy painting in a gallery that I’m going to stare at for a considerable time. However, I don’t love them in people’s homes. They really suck the attention away from everything else in the room. And if you want a statement piece, that’s great. But if you just want something to hang in the dining room, I’d much prefer it if my guests were looking at each other during the dinner conversation rather than the artwork behind me.
