AD (Gifted) | Christmas this year is going to be different for all of us. I know many people are sad about the recent changes, while others were expecting something like this all along and hadn’t really made any solid plans. All along we’d had the plan to spend Christmas Day with just our household and we were going to spend Boxing Day with my grandparents. The biggest change for me this year? As the family chef, I was going to have a lot more time on my hands. Â
I know Christmas dinner is a big deal for most people. But as I’m armed with a camera and backdrops for my meal presentation a lot of the time, I’m the ultimate perfectionist when it comes to serving other people. Especially for a big occasion. Â
My Regular Routine
A lot of people have fun getting dressed up for Christmas, and I used to love that too when I was younger. However, in recent years, it’s been more of a mad rush to make sure I don’t have flour in my hair by the time guests start showing up. Â
Usually, I prep my desserts and starters on Christmas Eve, in some sort of loungewear or joggers, then there’s a mad rush to try and get ready for some sort of Christmas Eve drinks. I’m in tier three, so there’ll be no rush to go anywhere or do anything this year. That’s somewhat bittersweet, on one hand, I have more time to prep but I have less prep to do because I’m feeding two people and a dog (yes, he gets a plate too).Â

Joggers worn: Blue Check Joggers
Christmas Day is also a bit crazy, there’s a christmas breakfast to make, then there’s cleanup before the main prep. I have one oven, so trying to figure out times to feed everyone is a little challenging, especially as there’s usually some things there for the meat eaters and then what I’ve prepped for myself. Â
Then there’s a mad dash to get ready.Â
A Different Christmas This Year
One thing I’m really looking forward to this year is that I’m actually going to have time to get ready. I can take almost as long as I want to get ready, everything will fit in the oven at the same time because I’m only feeding two (and Hugo) and there’s less pressure to have everything ready at a set time if you don’t have guests waiting to be fed. Although Hugo does get impatient waiting for his potatoes. Â
I think I’ll even have a little bit of time to sit and have a coffee without doing anything else this year. Sit…with a coffee. And a dog, and do nothing else??? That idea feels a bit alien to be honest. The only sitting that usually happens is that late evening potato induced coma. Â

I might even have time to do my hair AND my makeup rather than quickly waving a few brushes over my face and hoping for the best. Â
I’m sure some people are viewing the lack of social interaction this year as an excuse not to bother getting ready at all, but I’m really looking forward to the idea of sitting at my dressing table trying to decide whether gold or copper glitter is a better option for my lid colour. Â

I’m yet to decide what I’m wearing, which is annoying me a great deal. The jumper dress I had my eye was out of stock – the perfect mix of cute but plenty of room for way too much food.  Remember to wear something that zips, wraps, or is loose enough to not touch your face if makeup is coming before the outfit.
Top Worn: Black Ribbed Zip
What are you guys planning on doing this year? Relaxing in loungewear or are you still planning on making an effort? Â
Until next time,Â

Some of the clothing worn in this post was gifted by Femme Luxe.
Tier 4 here, but since we’ve never celebrated Christmas at home I didn’t feel like I’ll be missing out on much. However my roommates decided to make it a proper celebration anyway and since there’s a nice diner on the horizon, I’m not complaining.
I love your loungewear, it’s so elegant! Hope you’ll find something cute to wear for Christmas and will have a wonderful day <3

Great post! I’ll be cooking for 3 instead of 12 but I don’t want to eliminate items so I’m just scaling down. I will be dressing up a bit, but not as though I’m going to a party. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve always loved getting dressed up for Christmas Day but, when you’re trying to get everything ready food-wise, it can be so difficult to find the time to get yourself ready! I’ll definitely be joining you in getting dressed up this Christmas! x

The holidays are different for so many of us, to be sure! I loved your honest writing about then and now, the reflection over the differences this year will bring us.
We celebrated Solstice yesterday; just me and the people I live with (family). We cooked up good food and sat up late with cake. It was a good time and there was nothing I would have changed.
Wishing you happy holidays to you and yours!
This Christmas is different for all us. I’m planning to dress up too. I’m glad you are getting your me time this year. The loungewear looks so comfortable! Merry Christmas!

We all have to celebrate Christmas differently and I’m glad you found your way for the holiday. I dress up for Christmas at work, sadly, because I’m a retail worker at a grocery store.
Great post, and for once I actually got sort of dressed up this year – with everything that’s going on it just seemed apt! Hope you had a wonderful day <3

Christmas was much quieter for us this year, but I absolutely adored it!

I put a comfy Christmas jumper on this year! 😀
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! 🙂
Merry Christmas!!
Christmas didn’t hit the same as other years. It is great that you got to spend some time preparing goodies for your family. Big plus that you have extra time to prep! It is always nice to be able to do the things you need, without any rush. Hopefully you had a relaxing Christmas!
