I was sorting through my makeup collection recently and found a few products that I really don’t use enough. It’s not because they’re bad, or I don’t like them; I’m just not reaching for them. There’s no excuse for not using them, I don’t use a makeup bag unless I’m travelling and don’t keep daily use products in a separate location. All of these items are looking at me every day when I’m picking my products. I’ve never done anything like a project pan as I don’t like the pressure of feeling like I have to use something if I don’t want to, so this is sort of like my own mini version one as a reminder to reach for different things.
5 Makeup Products I’d Like To Use More
The reasons I’m not using these are slightly different for each product, so I’m going to start this list with the products that I’ll find the easiest to use more down to the ones that are slightly harder.
1 Colourpop Blush Stix (Shade 25/8, Ve)

I bought two of the Colourpop blush Stix last December and I love them. Due to my dry skin, I wear mostly cream formulas all the time, I prefer sticks to pot cream blush formulas. I love the finish of this formula…I’m just reaching for the other shade more. A little goes a very long way with these sticks and although I have used both, the other one has a much bigger dent in it. I just need to pull this one to the front of the shelf.
2 Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette (Ve)

This palette entered my collection last October, and I really liked it. I did use it quite a bit towards the end of 2019, but I used it more as a going out palette than a daily use palette. The Obsessions palettes are very travel friendly, and this would have likely been by my side on the trips that I didn’t end up taking this year. And I obviously haven’t been going out. So, I’ve been reaching for my neutral palettes for daytime wear and this has been pushed to the side.
But this palette isn’t crazy dark or bright, and it can be used for day looks. I just need to make more of an effort to use it for the more neutral shades rather than sticking with the deeper ones for evening looks.
3 XX Revolution Glow Foundation (Shade 0.05, Ve)
XX Revolution is still a relatively new brand, and I picked up the foundation and the concealer when it launched. It launched with a new palest shade which was just about perfect for my skin tone, which I was so excited about at the time. But it’s a heavier foundation, fuller coverage…and more of a night out product. I like sheer to light coverage for daily use. Although I like this foundation a lot, it’s not something I’d typically use on a casual Tuesday. Much like the Obsessions palette, the occasions I would have used it simply haven’t happened. I need to get mixing with this one to sheer it out a little for daily wear.
4 Colourpop Foundation Stix (Shade Medium 85c, Ve)

When I picked up the stick foundation from Colourpop, I bought the palest one to wear as foundation, and a deeper one for bronzing/ contouring. I didn’t like the foundation at all and I think that put me off using the deeper one as well. My issues with the foundation were more to do with how it blended over dry patches, which isn’t really an issue for the perimeter of my face.
As I mentioned in my minimal makeup routine post, I’ve been using the Hoola Stick recently and realistically, this isn’t that different. It should be easy for me to use this in a similar way to that going forward.
5 Benefit Gimme Brow (Shade 2, not CF)
This isn’t a product I’d usually buy, but when I was repurchasing my Goof Proof earlier this year, it was actually cheaper to buy it in a set that included Gimme Brow. Lots of people love this, but I haven’t found the best way to use it for my own brows. From what I’ve seen, people typically use this with minimal makeup looks. It’s a tinted gel with fibers in it that fills them a little. My natural brows are on the sparse side, but my brow hairs are quite long which makes them look a bit fuller than they really are. But I find that a gel like this emphasises how sparse they are unless I fill them first. And I don’t typically set my brows with anything like this if I fill them.
So, this is the only product on the list that I’m not sure how to use more. But I need to play around with this some more and try to figure out a way to make it work for me. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
Do you use any of these products? Are you currently participating in some sort of project pan or your own similar version?
Until next time,
Sophie
Great post! I too have products that I don’t reach for these days. This is a good reminder to go through these items as move them forward to increase the usage.
The Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette is perfect for fall! It has the prettiest colors!

I find it funny that you mentioned the fact that you aren’t using the eyeshadow palette simply because you’re not really going out anywhere – I just made a similar comment to my husband the other day about a bunch of the makeup products that have been sitting around our bathroom unused for far too long. I work at home, so I don’t really go anywhere! When I do leave the house, it’s for hiking, camping, etc. Not exactly the kind of activities that one gets all dressed up for lol
I love the quality of colourpop products and I really wish that I used them more in my makeup routine! The foundation stick sounds really great x
These all sound like fab products! I haven’t tried any of these yet but I really want to try the XX revolution foundation and the Huda palette 🙂
No wonder, they look like amazing products and so colourful! Love them! x
I feel you about makeup products that we don’t use enough of!! I love that Colourpop has a huge range of products. I always have a harder time with blush, but they look great overall! Oooh, the Obsessions palette is so cute! Love the different hues of pink! Colourpop does not mess around with their sticks. Pretty cool that the foundation stick makes it easy to manage and use overall. I haven’t used any of these products before, but I definitely need to give some more love to my Chanel blush!

Very interesting article as I am also looking at developing my skincare and makeup products and techniques. I am also a big fan of Benefit make up!
I’ve seen some beautiful blush sticks and would love to try them. I also need to sort out these brows of mine!

It’s good there are so many products you can think about a little more and find ways to use them, although not all of them! I only have one of everything for makeup but with not going into the office I haven’t been wearing it, haha! I have been enjoying even going without my BB cream most days.
Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂
I’ve definitely got a few makeup products that I need to use more as well. Like you I have no clue why I don’t use them, they’re looking at me everyday but I never choose them! The Colourpop Blush Stix sound really interesting. I have skin that’s on the dry side so I tend to go for a cream product as well. I’ll have to look into them 🙂

That palette is so pretty and contains so many great, Autumnal shades.
I’d love to have tried that Benefit Brow product but the fact it’s not CF really puts me off now. The eyeshadow palette is lovely!
The Huda palette is gorgeous and so perfect for this autumn and winter season.
I’ve not tried any of these I don’t think! There are loads of products just sitting in my makeup bag that I never reach for so definitely need to get through those before buying more xx
