Christmas – a time for orange flavoured everything and an excessive amount of chocolate. November 2019 – a time for me to realise that despite this year’s Vegmas having an incredibly heavy chocolate orange theme, I have already made orange brownies. Tragically, they were not posted at Christmas time, a wasted opportunity. The only answer to that was to make orange blondies instead. I don’t know why, but I never think of white chocolate and christmas going together, despite white being my favourite. However, I’m sure I’m not the only white chocolate lover here. I’m going to be honest in saying that most vegan white chocolate is awful. The beauty in cooking with it? You get the sweetness without any weird after taste. But it’s Christmas, so this is a vegan orange blondies recipe. Gotta make it festive somehow…
I made a slight error with this recipe. When I was looking at the amount of blondie batter I had in my bowl, I wasn’t sure whether to use my smaller or larger dish. I went for the large one, and that was probably a mistake as they turned out a little skinny. Ideally, something between the two would have been the right size.
You’ll notice that I took my photos when my blondies were still warm and the white chocolate was still runny. At this point you get the gooey white chocolate with the chewy candied orange peel – highly recommend. If you’re not eating them fresh from the oven, microwave them for about 45 seconds to replicate the freshly baked texture.
Vegan Orange Blondies Recipe
A festive flavoured sweet vegan tray bake for the white chocolate lovers this Christmas.
This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan. It does contain soy.

Vegan Orange Blondies Recipe
Ingredients
- 190 g GF oat flour
- 150 g golden caster sugar
- ½ tbsp corn flour
- 180 g vegan white chocolate
- 4 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 cup vanilla soy milk
- Zest of one orange
- 1 tbsp orange extract
- ⅓ cup candied orange peel
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees and line an oven friendly baking dish.
-
Melt 150g of your chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of boiling water.
-
Sieve your flour into a mixing bowl. Once done, stir in the sugar until dry ingredients are fully combined.
-
Now stir in the melted chocolate, oil, orange extract, candied orange peel and milk until fully combined. You'll notice the mix is probably quite runny, stir in the corn flour now and mix until completely smooth.
-
Now pour just over half of your mixture into your lined baking dish, enough to get an even base.
-
Then place some of the remaining white chocolate over this layer.
-
Pour the remaining blondie mixture into over the top of the jammy layer. Add the remaining white chocolate to the top.
-
Place on the middle shelf of the oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes. Remember blondies are still gooey when cooked, you’re not looking for a fork to come out clean like cake mix.
-
When blondies are cooked, allow them to cool and set for at least 5 minutes then slice into 12 pieces.
Serve and enjoy!
