Time For A Change | New Theme, New Host, NEW SHOP?!

Hi guys! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are feeling happy, full and rested. As the new year looms, I thought it was time for a change. I got a new theme, new host and I’m starting a NEW SHOP?!

New Theme

So, my theme was supposed to go live today but as soon as I started playing around with it, I got impatient and it’s actually been live since around 5am Christmas Eve. But it was Christmas so no one really saw it. Yes, 5am. I started playing with it around 2am and couldn’t stop. Why am I like this? (Jas, if you’re reading this, we’re definitely the same person)

I loved my last theme (which was this one), but it didn’t load my featured slider tablet view, which I found really annoying. But only 3-5% of my views came from tablets, so I didn’t let that stress me out too much.

And it was free, I’d had it since day 1 and my blog had kind of outgrown it, I wanted some more customisable features. It served me well and I would always recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to pay for a theme, but it was time for a change.

This one is Opulence by Pipdig, if anyone was wondering.

New Host

I’ve been tweeting about this for a while so I’m sure some of you are aware, but I’m ditching Siteground. It was a fun, cheap year, but it’s coming to an end. I don’t think the service is worth the cost of renewal, I have had a few issues with my hosting this year and I thought I’d try something new. I haven’t officially changed yet.

My site migration is booked for Saturday afternoon, but I opted to go with Lyrical. I’ve only bought 1 month with them to see how it goes, I’ll report back next month and let you know if I decide to stay with them longer. But I’m already impressed with their service. Because I’m waiting a few days to migrate (because I signed up CHRISTMAS EVE), they added those extra days to my hosting plan. And you get a few free stock images every month as well as a blogger resource pack. They sound great so far.

You can use code ‘GLOW10’ for 10% off any of their plans too.

NEW SHOP?!

For a little while now I’ve wanted to design some meal planner sheets. But that was just a passing thought, no real plans. Then I got the idea to write an eBook and everything changed. I thought about what I wanted to include in the eBook, then I realised that it all sounded very Veganuary appropriate. That was around three weeks ago. And the clock was ticking. I either needed to get my finger out and start cooking/ recipe planning and writing, or wait another full year.

I don’t have that level of patience.

So, I wrote my eBook

What’s it about?

It’s an introductory guide to plant based nutrition. The beginning explains where you can find certain vitamins and minerals that people think are hard to find on a vegan diet. I talk about balance, what a balanced diet means to me and how I try to keep mine as balanced and healthy as possible. Then there’s a little section on all the things you hear a lot (that aren’t true) when you tell people that you’re plant based.

The next section is 18 recipes. 16 are new, 2 are blog favourites that are perfect examples of how to balance your meals from a nutrition perspective.

the glow diet

There’re five breakfast recipes, four snacks and sides, four under 20 minutes recipes and five mains. As always, they’re all as free from as possible for other allergies as well as vegan. It’s 100% gluten free, or things that can easily be swapped for a GF diet, like oats.

As this was written with Veganuary in mind, all recipes are fairly simple and all ingredients can be found in most supermarkets. Nothing too fancy or complicated.

It will be £5, but everything for sale can be bought with 25% off using the code ‘veganuary’ until January 15th. That includes the printables.

The other stuff?

So, those meal planner sheets I was talking about…

I have a grocery list sheet which is organised by areas of the supermarket, produce, fridges etc so you can plan your shop based on food location. It’s designed to make shopping easier and so you don’t miss things because you added carrots while you were in the middle of the cupboard stuff.

I also have meal planner sheets in a simple chart with sections for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

Then, there’s one that combines the two. There’s somewhere to write ingredients you need for recipes with the option to tick them off if you already have them, with a shopping list as well.

I do have a couple more that aren’t quite ready as this post is going live. One is a nutrition tracker sheet that has lists of foods that include certain things like iron, with the option to tick off if you’ve had one that day. The other thing that’s yet to launch is a dinner party planner sheet. They will both be up by the end of the week so keep your eye out if you’re interested in either of those. I would have loved to have it all ready to launch together…but it’s all been done in a couple of weeks. It’s Christmas. I’m tired.

I’m so excited to finally be sharing my secret project with you! If you have any questions about any of the products please don’t hesitate to ask. The online shop has just launched so I’m sure there’ll be a couple of little kinks to iron out.

It’s all very new and exciting around these parts right now! I’d love to know your thoughts on the new theme. I’m still fiddling with the smaller details, it isn’t 100% perfect yet, but I’m loving it so far. I think it looks so much better on a mobile view (if you’re reading this on your phone please let me know).  And please take a look at the shop!

Until next time,

Sophie

This is so exciting! It’s always nice to have a lil change around with themes and that, and coming up to the new year is a perfect time for it! The new host you’re with sounds amazing too, looking forward to seeing what you think about it after a month! And your shop!!! That’s so exciting, you’re so organised it’s fab. I’m going vegetarian in the new year, I’ve read so many blogs and read so much about how awful the meat industry is on the environment and I don’t know why I haven’t done it sooner so I am actually on my way back to my flat now and I have a few vegetarian recipe books so I’m going to go through them and get my weekly shopping ordered – I will probably be going through a lot of your blog today too for more recipes ♥️ When I’m back on my laptop I’ll have a look through all your printables and see about getting your ebook 🙂

Such a nice surprise coming on your blog, so clean and fresh. I love the new theme!! I would love to hear how you get on with your new host because I am with Site ground too and my year will be up in June and I really don’t want to pay loads and loads. Your E-book sounds amazing, especially the part where you mention where to find all the good nutrients that my body definitely needs. The nutrition tracker sheets sound like something I could benefit from! I have had a quick look at your shop and everything looks so good, this is so great for you Sophie! I hope it goes well xx

OHH I LOVE YOUR NEW THEME! I’m laughing at the fact that you were up at 2am messing with the theme though ahaha have to make sure everything looks just right! When I changed my theme I basically didn’t leave the computer for like literal hours/days haha! That’s interesting that you get a few free stock images, sounds like a great package deal with hosting!

    WAIT A SECOND NEW SHOP!?!?!

IM SO EXCITED!! A SHOP!! Congratulations on writing & finishing your ebook – especially since this idea came to you about 3 weeks ago you must have been a writing machine (and cooking machine) for three weeks! I’m so so happy for you!! I’m loving what I’m hearing about it- nice and simple and of course healthy 🙂

Veganuary! I’ve heard gracefituk talk a lot about it on twitter – I’m trying to decide if I want to join in on it though, still have a few days to decide!

Congrats on the launch of your e-book Sophie! Have just purchased it, and as I’m moving into my own place mid-January and can make as much mess as I want – I’m looking forward to giving some of the recipes a go!

A Pipdig theme is such a good choice, I strayed away on one occasion but really missed how customisable the theme was, so went back. Your blogs makeover looks good! Hope the new hosting works out for you.

Ah I love your new theme! I’ve been debating whether to treat my site to a pipdig theme for a while, they have so many gorgeous themes. Your new project sounds so exciting! Plant based nutrition is something I, and I know a lot of other people, have been interested in learning more about, so I think this will be amazing! Best of luck for the new year lovely x

So so excited for all of these changes Sophie!!! When you announced the other day on Twitter that you had an eBook coming out, I got so excited for you, what an accomplishment. I will definitely be purchasing, not only to support you, but to educate myself & understand more about plant-based nutrition. I don’t know that I’d ever be able to commit to it, but I feel it’s still important to know & understand the basics, especially seeing as how there are so many misconceptions about it.

  22. 30th December 2018 / 10:04 am

Congratulations! I’ve been binge-reading (is that even a thing?) your blog for several months now and I love it, so it’s so great to hear you managed to publish an e-book, open your own shop and even get the whole blog changed. I truly love the way it looks now and am hoping for some more changes in the future.
