Say Goodbye to Dry Patches with XO Balm

Categories Beauty, Featured, Skin

Hey guys, today’s post is a review of a product I got sent for helping to soothe and repair dry skin. If your skin is anything like mine, you’re probably already rolling your eyes. You have loads of products like this, right? They feel great when you put them on, the cream is quite thick and maybe even a bit sticky. That’s kind of gross feeling but also slightly amazing to feel something that moisturising on your dry skin? XO balm is different.

Product info

XO Balm is a multipurpose balm, particularly for those with dry and sensitive skin, but can be used just about anywhere, face, body or hair.

Firstly, for a treatment balm kind of product, the container is on the larger side. You get 45ml of product, roughly the amount you get in a standard facial moisturiser, for £12.50.  You can purchase the product on Amazon and directly on xobalm.com.

The company are cruelty free although XO Balm does contain beeswax so is not 100% vegan.

Packaging

I love the packaging and branding of this product. I know that isn’t a huge deal compared to how it performs, but it looks really cute in photos and we all know that’s a deal breaker. Not only is the tin sturdy and secure while still being compact and easy to travel with, it has a little mirror inside the lid which is so useful. It also comes with a scoop, which means it doesn’t get in your nails and you’re not constantly stabbing it with your fingers, making it more hygienic too.

Ingredients and formula

One thing I really love about this product is the simplicity of the ingredients list. It’s all natural, which I know is something that a lot appreciate. The product only has four ingredients. As someone with very sensitive skin, I think that’s really great as it’s easier to spot if you have an issue with a certain ingredient.

Oh, and throughout this heatwave, this product has been sat on my dressing table in direct sunlight and is yet to melt into oily mess. Always a good sign.

Ingredients: Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Chia Seed Oil. That’s it.

Performance

Now you have all the details, how well does it perform? I love this stuff. Remember back in the introduction, I told you this formula was different? It isn’t a ‘balm’ in the typical sense. It has a matte finish which, to me, feels a lot like the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm. The texture is so comfortable. I’ve mainly been using this on places like my elbows, ankles and knees rather than on my face and the matte texture makes a big difference. There’s no more waiting around with your arms out straight trying not to stick to anything. The thing I love the most about this product is that there’s no residue, so it doesn’t stick to your clothes, hair or anything else you happen to encounter.

All in, I would definitely buy this myself and could totally see myself repurchasing this item. Although you need the tiniest amount so I’m not sure exactly how long it will be before I’d even come close to running out.

If you have dry skin or suffer with dry areas, I highly recommend this product.

Do you have any favourite dry skin essentials?

Before I go, please tell me I’m not the only one who STILL has to read everything in the voice of Gossip Girl whenever they read XO…

Until next time,

Sophie

  1. This sounds brilliant! I’ve always suffered with dry elbows and terribly with eczema on my hands. I’ve tried more creams than I could ever count and honestly never found something that I really truly like but this sounds brilliant. Knowing there’s no nasty ingredients and the finish is matte is so helpful, too! Nothing I hate more than a greasy cream.

    1. The matte finish is what really sold it to me! I love that it isn’t greasy. It makes such a great change. They do say it’s supposed to help with eczema too! x

  2. I hadn’t heard of this brand before, but this product sounds great. I don’t really need to use products like this for my skin, but will definitely keep this in mind if I do. I really like the packaging, and it’s great they have included a mirror in it! The company also being cruelty free is amazing. Also, yes – you definitely have to read the XO in the voice of Gossip Girl Great review!

  3. Ohhh I love the sound of that balm! That’s amazing how little ingredients it has, definitely better for those with sensitive skin. Ill have to look into getting a pot to try on my eczema. It’s very affordable too!

  4. This sounds great but what sold it to me more than anything was the little scoop! I’ve bitten my nails pretty much forever but finally broke the habit in 2016… and one thing that annoys me about having longer nails now is getting creams and/or lip balms etc stuck underneath them!

The price seems pretty good too, I could be tempted to try this for sure. Great post xx

  5. I love the button design on the tin, that’s super cute! It sounds like a great product, all natural ingredients is a winner. It looks so handy, especially with the scoop and mirror, perfect for travelling. Thanks for sharing Sophie! <3 xx

  7. This sounds incredible!! I’m a bit crazy about shaving smooth legs so, I shave them on a daily basis which leads to them being very itchy and dry! This sounds like the perfect product to lather on my legs each night! Thanks for sharing! xx

  8. I love those multipurpose balms. Especially when there are days where I would need it for my lips and skin elsewhere. Lea, xx

  9. I have normal to skin and am always looking for a good moisturizer (and cleanser too because acne loves me haha) that’s amazing that it can work anywhere from face, body & hair – that’s how my shea butter works too! But shea butter is a bit thick on the face for the summer so I’ve stopped using it until winter comes around!

YAY cruelty free!! That’s something I always look for in products & am constantly searching up! YES to the scoop!! For my shea butter I have to just use my hands to scoop it out, which means it takes a while to wash it off my hands & from my nails!

4 Ingredients!! Yes!! I always aim to get products that have the least ingredients and are more natural, definitely better for the face if it’s more natural!

Oh it doesn’t turn into an oily mess? I might just have to look into getting this because for my shea butter if it’s hot outside, then it just sort of melts? I’m not even sure if that’s the right word haha!

So it doesn’t finish oily/greasy looking? It just dries and has a matte finish after a few seconds?
Definitely going to look into this product a little more!

  12. This sounds great! I’m not really a dry skin person – I just have awful skin of every other kind haha! So I’m not sure if this would benefit me that much but glad to hear it worked for you! xxx

  13. Oh wow this stuff sounds amazing! I love the packaging too and how handy is that scoop!? Not sure I’d get a lot of use out of the mirror but I guess it’s still a pretty handy feature! I get really dry skin over Winter so may have to check this out!
