Hey guys, today’s post is a review of a product I got sent for helping to soothe and repair dry skin. If your skin is anything like mine, you’re probably already rolling your eyes. You have loads of products like this, right? They feel great when you put them on, the cream is quite thick and maybe even a bit sticky. That’s kind of gross feeling but also slightly amazing to feel something that moisturising on your dry skin? XO balm is different.
XO Balm is a multipurpose balm, particularly for those with dry and sensitive skin, but can be used just about anywhere, face, body or hair.
Firstly, for a treatment balm kind of product, the container is on the larger side. You get 45ml of product, roughly the amount you get in a standard facial moisturiser, for £12.50. You can purchase the product on Amazon and directly on xobalm.com.
The company are cruelty free although XO Balm does contain beeswax so is not 100% vegan.
I love the packaging and branding of this product. I know that isn’t a huge deal compared to how it performs, but it looks really cute in photos and we all know that’s a deal breaker. Not only is the tin sturdy and secure while still being compact and easy to travel with, it has a little mirror inside the lid which is so useful. It also comes with a scoop, which means it doesn’t get in your nails and you’re not constantly stabbing it with your fingers, making it more hygienic too.
Ingredients and formula
One thing I really love about this product is the simplicity of the ingredients list. It’s all natural, which I know is something that a lot appreciate. The product only has four ingredients. As someone with very sensitive skin, I think that’s really great as it’s easier to spot if you have an issue with a certain ingredient.
Oh, and throughout this heatwave, this product has been sat on my dressing table in direct sunlight and is yet to melt into oily mess. Always a good sign.
Ingredients: Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Chia Seed Oil. That’s it.
Now you have all the details, how well does it perform? I love this stuff. Remember back in the introduction, I told you this formula was different? It isn’t a ‘balm’ in the typical sense. It has a matte finish which, to me, feels a lot like the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm. The texture is so comfortable. I’ve mainly been using this on places like my elbows, ankles and knees rather than on my face and the matte texture makes a big difference. There’s no more waiting around with your arms out straight trying not to stick to anything. The thing I love the most about this product is that there’s no residue, so it doesn’t stick to your clothes, hair or anything else you happen to encounter.
All in, I would definitely buy this myself and could totally see myself repurchasing this item. Although you need the tiniest amount so I’m not sure exactly how long it will be before I’d even come close to running out.
If you have dry skin or suffer with dry areas, I highly recommend this product.
Do you have any favourite dry skin essentials?
Before I go, please tell me I’m not the only one who STILL has to read everything in the voice of Gossip Girl whenever they read XO…
